Meet Harley Rose Nemeth | Owner of Charming Lane Boutique and Hair by Harley

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harley Rose Nemeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always known I would own a business. I knew from an early age that I wanted to pursue a creative career. I started my career as a Licensed Cosmetologist which is where Hair by Harley was born. I’ve spent 10 years building my clientele and love having my hair-apy sessions with all my clients in the chair. I don’t know who needs it more: me or them!
When the opportunity came about for me to go back to the south side of the river, I jumped at the chance to come back and open a business in my hometown community. I knew this was what I had been waiting on. Charming Lane Boutique opened in August 2021 and it has grown so much in those three years. Located in Clarksville, TN, Charming Lane is a boho-inspired with a western flair boutique and we dress every body carrying sizes from XS-3XL. We always have a smile for our customers.
I still have my salon business and I’ve added a barber, Fades by BaylyJoe and soon to hire a second stylist. We have an esthetician, Hannah Greene Esthetics, who offers facials, lashes and eyebrow tints and laminations, facial waxes, and spray tans. Nurse Andrea with Fluidity IV Therapy offers vitamin injections, IV hydration, and Botox injections.
Charming Lane Boutique is named after my precious son, Lane. When asked why I opened this boutique, I tell everyone that Lane is my inspiration and greatest teacher. Every day he has a new lesson for me. I am so grateful. I know that there is no other place in this world that will love on Lane as much as the folks just ‘over the river’ do. It is my hometown and there is nowhere else I’d rather be and no other community like mine.
What should our readers know about your business?
When Charming Lane Boutique was founded it was important to me that it was a one stop shop. We live just “over the river” in Clarksville and we have a grocery store on one side and a nail salon on the other. We have a dentist office, a sushi restaurant, and a pharmacy on the other end of the shopping center. Now that Charming Lane is established here we have a hair stylist, barber, spray tans, facials, iv hydration, and botox – not to mention the clothing selection, we literally no longer have a reason to cross the bridge into Clarksville.
We can do your hair, give your skin a glow up, trim up your man’s beard, hydrate you, and get you prettied up for your date night.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think Clarksville has a fun downtown area that is so inviting. There are lots of small and/or women-owned businesses on Franklin Street and Strawberry Alley. We would have to go to the Blackhorse Pub and Brewery for beer cheese dip, La Plaza for chicken fajitas, and Pho House for pork rolls and chicken hibachi. The Mailroom would be a stop we would make for sure for the amazing mojitos and the bread is soooo good. Of course, we would also visit Old Glory Distillery and Beachhaven VIneyards and Winery for some samples and maybe stay for the Jazz on the Lawn.
If we are in the mood for shopping, we would go on over to Miss Lucille’s Marketplace and stop in the cafe for a little sweet treat. And the popcorn is definitely something to talk about!
I also think we have such a beautiful area to call home with the riverfront, lots of green spaces and locally-owned farms. H & S Farms and Duke Farms offer homegrown veggies, fruits, and pumpkins. We really have a beautiful place to live and the Liberty Park and Playground offers a fun space for the whole family. Freedom Point is a perfect place to watch a sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout goes to my community – my village. Ya’ll, I didn’t know how much I would depend on my family, friends, and my son’s teachers and support staff. Owning a business is the most rewarding experience but the hours are long. I would be missing an opportunity to thank the people who make my day-to-day so much easier. I have a long list of folks who will absolutely drop what they are doing to help me. And my community never misses a chance to give Charming Lane Boutique the utmost support. They show up, every time for us.
I can’t leave out my right hand woman – Mrs. Natalie Blackmon. She is the heart and soul of the shop. She keeps all of us on track. Making sure everyone is in their state of zen with her business, Natalie Blackmon Yoga, not only can she be your safe space, encourager to be confident in your own skin but she makes it a point to let everyone know they are truly cared about. Along with everyday life, she also handles all of the social media for Charming Lane Boutique. She truly is a jack of all trades who keeps this team a float.
