Meet Gabrielius Uzameckis | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielius Uzameckis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabrielius, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was born in to artistic family starting from grandparents to parents everybody was more or less musicians or some type of artist. My father was violinist and compositor that was highly involved in classical music scene in Europe. Those was big shoes to fill for me and my brother , so we started at early age of four. As much as i remember my self i was already playing and getting ready for some type of performance so it came so natural that i never made any decision to pursue it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is music and why its special is that I am not trying to make anybody feel some type of way or pass on some prepared melody or emotion. I improvise every time i play. I open my “book” and show my current emotion that who ever is there listening could hear how I hear this song or other song in my head and what kind of emotion that song is leading me in to. Improvisation and the unique sound is the combo that sets me aside some other really good musicians. Was it hard? Yes and no. Let me explain. Is it hard to improvise live on stage-not at all. I don’t need to think about it or try when I am doing it. I go to this mode where I just express and it comes out naturally. The ability to do that in other hand was not a walk in a park. I don’t how is it for other people but before I started to improvise I had to go though years and years of strict classical training. Many of hot summer days where other kids was playing outside basketball and I had to practice. But all of that made me in to who I am today so in the end of the day it was totally worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the city like Chicago there is so many things to do , see or visit that you would need a professional to give you a list and even then I am not sure that you will be able to see or do everything that is there. Me personally as active performer I do not have time to do all those things that city has to offer so if I would have a guest who would ask me what to do I would just take him where I have shows at and that would be already really good and fun weekend for him or her.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, a big thank you to my parents, especially my father, that put the foundation of music in me. All though my father has passed away and it took me some time to realize what he has done for me, I want to thank him for now music is part of me. The next people who are tremendous support is my wife who always supports me even if it means putting our toddlers to bed alone because I have shows 2 nights in a row. Also I want to thank my manager KICE , who is always by my side and always there not just as manager but as a friend as well. Last but not least , one and only Mark Knight and his music peace called “MAN WITH THE RED FACE” because after this release and me hearing the legendary sax solo I knew right away my way.
