We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Adams and Cat Friel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily and Cat, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We have always had a passion for styling, fashion, and the confidence it instills in our community. We felt empowered to provide a styling service that was approachable and accessible to anyone looking to update their style and their wardrobe. We both come from a strong background of personal styling and editorial styling. Cat spent 4 months in Boston shadowing and learning the ins and outs of editorial styling with Rue La La and Gilt Group, and product styling for Talbots. While Cat was absorbing and developing these skill sets, Emily was back in Nashville building up a portfolio and client list with personal styling. Being able to provide customizable services within our business is something we take so much pride in. So whether you’re a business or brand, a celebrity, or someone who works a 9-5, you can call us with you unique styling needs. We are motivated by our community and the relationships we cultivate with all of our clients. We wanted to provide a space that felt comfortable and safe for our clients to trust us with their styling needs and image.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To us, styling is all about self expression. We never style 2 clients the same, because everyone comes to us with specific desires and goals that we help bring to life. Our biggest advice to aspiring business owners (or really, anyone!) is to always lead with kindness, to everybody. You never know when your paths will intertwine down the road, and being trusted with your art is extremely important. We take so much pride in our business providing a positive experience to people seeking to find confidence within themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If there’s one thing we know how to do better than styling, it’s how to have a good time! We love supporting our favorite local businesses. To name a few, you can find the best array of clothing and styles at Abednego Boutique in Germantown. (Grab a cocktail at Mothers Ruin down the street before you go!) Ensemble in The Nations Neighborhood has the best luxury designer and non designer consignment pieces. UAL is another designer liquidator we love with locations in West End, 12 South neighborhood, and Hillsboro Village. For our guys – head down to 12 South to shop at Buck Mason and Imogene and Willie. For all your streetwear solutions, and ever day staples, be sure to check out FORTS in Wedgewood Houston!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the love, support, and positive energy of our Nashville community. Whenever we talked about our dreams, we had an overwhelming outpour of encouragement from our friends and family. Specifically, Cat’s sister Amy who comes from an extensive background of styling supported us every step of the way. We also have to give a special shoutout to local our friends Daniel Musto, who owns the clothing brand Daniel Diamond, and Hannah Schneider, owner of the PR agency BRND house. They’re both entrepreneurs who guided us through business ownership and more.
