We had the good fortune of connecting with Edible Ed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edible Ed, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?

I lead by example. I’m not perfect but I do my best to be the best person I can be for the world and my daughter but most importantly, for myself.

It’s insane how many bad parents there are, walking amongst us. Children are born innocent and only know what they’re taught and shown.
Life is hard and it’s not fair but as parents, we need to show our children how to navigate it.

Children didn’t ask to be brought into the world. Don’t treat them like they’re a bother. All they want is attention. They want you to be proud and to make you happy. Be proud and make them happy too. It’s the circle of love.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Well, I don’t think I think of my art as art. Does that make sense? I just kinda do my thing. But I have noticed that doing my thing doesn’t resonate with a lot, shucks, most people.

Over the years, making my YouTube cooking show, Edible Ed’s, I’ve been told a lot of negative things. Like, a second grader edits better and my videos give people ADHD. Strange comments but ones I can handle.

But some comments aren’t as easy to brush off. I make family friendly content but my videos aren’t solely for kids. Conversely, most people think my content revolves around Marijuana because of my name and what I look like. I’ve had racist things said openly to me, like it was no biggie. I’ve had people mock me because of my disabilities.

I struggle a lot but I do my best to keep my head above water. I guess that’s why I don’t see my art as art because it’s what keeps me going. It motivates me and excites me, helping me to cope with what life has in store for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

To be honest, hanging out and eating at my house with my family is a blast. Haha!

But if I had to take my friend around PHX, I’d have to show them where I teach cooking classes, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix!

Then grab a slice at Snapback Pizza and grab some homemade candy at Cerreta’s Candy Co.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I’d like to shoutout my Mom, Dad and brother, Adrian. They have always supported and loved me, even when I wasn’t sure what I was going to do next. I love you guys.

Also, my daughter, Emma. You prove everyday that I am on this planet for a very important reason, so I can be your very important reason. I love you Princess.

Lastly, my wife, Mickey. I am sorry. I am sorry that this is your life. I am sorry that I haven’t pulled my share. I wish things could have been different. I wish you could have everything your heart desires. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to give you that. But I love with you all of my heart and am grateful for you, every day.
