We had the good fortune of connecting with DR.TANYA DAVIS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DR.TANYA, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Evaluate the potential risks and benefits of a particular decision or action. Consider the likelihood of various outcomes and their potential impact on your goals. Understand your own risk tolerance, which is the level of risk you are comfortable taking. This can vary from person to person and is influenced by factors such as experience, personality, and the specific situation. Gather as much relevant information as possible before making a decision. Informed decisions are often more resilient to unexpected challenges and last, Consider both short-term and long-term consequences. Some risks may have immediate benefits but could lead to negative long-term consequences, and vice versa.

Becoming a realtor was not easy. Despite over three decades having passed since my felony, its shadow lingered. The journey involved submitting an extensive amount of paperwork detailing my case, parole release, and more, just to gain approval to start school. Once that hurdle was crossed, applying for the exam came next, which I thankfully passed on my first attempt. The process continued with fingerprinting, only to encounter a setback when something from the past resurfaced, requiring clearance and testing my patience.

Upon overcoming those challenges, I joined eXp Realty brokerage. However, the obstacles persisted as financial hardships meant I couldn’t afford certain fees. Determined, I tackled each fee one at a time. To show properties, I had to rely on others to look for homes based on addresses since I couldn’t join the MLS listing due to financial constraints. The road was tough, but I refused to let it deter me.

Amidst adversity, I secured my first house under contract, bringing immense joy. Reflecting on the journey, I realize that if I had given up during those challenging times, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Visiting Nashville is an absolute delight! I’d kick off the adventure by exploring downtown at 5th and Broad, renowned worldwide for its hot chicken. Our first culinary stop would be Hattie B’s, followed by a taste of inventive pizzas at Slim and Huskys, and then a delightful dinner experience at Eddie V’s. Next on the agenda , we’ll ascend to the Twelve Thirty rooftop for refreshing drinks and panoramic views.

Our journey continues next day with a visit to the African Music Museum, where the interactive booth for recording voices and the energetic dance room promise an amazing and entertaining workout.

As the evening unfolds, we’ll make our way to the lively Brooklyn Bowl Nashville for some live music and entertainment. Along the way, we can’t miss the Bag Lady Fry Joint for a delectable baked potato prepared in any imaginable way.

For a touch of recreation, Putt Shack beckons us with its putt golf courses, promising a fun and friendly competition. And finally, we’ll round off our adventure at Pins Mechanical Co, a guaranteed winner with its duckpin bowling, pinball, and patio pong. These are the places I’d love my friends to experience in Nashville — a perfect blend of culinary delights, cultural exploration, and entertaining activities!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I’d like to recognize a special group of individuals and groups who have played a crucial role in my journey. First and foremost, I owe my strength and guidance to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without His presence, I wouldn’t have had the courage to make the significant moves I did.

A heartfelt thank you to my loving daughter, who, with unwavering support, encouraged my decision to become a realtor. Her words, “Mom, you love people and enjoy making them happy; you would be a great realtor,” resonated deeply and fueled my determination.

To my dearest friends Denise Turner, Gregory James, Tasha Scott, Ken Thirkield, Demetrius Shorts, Tabitha Stewart, Sonja Carney, Hyun Park, and my brother Al Winters, for believing in me—I am truly grateful. Your faith in my abilities has been a driving force in reaching my goals.

Special appreciation goes to William “Da Bishop” Walker and Bishop Chuck Middleton Jr., as well as The BMCI prayer call. Your spiritual guidance has been instrumental in keeping me focused, believing, and trusting in the word of God and all your continued prayers.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to my grandchildren but one in particular, King Josiah. His gifts and unconditional love were a beacon of light, providing the much-needed strength to overcome challenges and achieve my goals…
