Meet Dr. Demetria Banks | Author, Evangelist & Certified Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Demetria Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Demetria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business originated from my desire to empower others to live their best life. The emotional pain and mental turmoil I witnessed individuals experienced during life challenges always made the “rescuer” in me rise and want to help in any way I can. This led me to write on topics that dealt with emotional healing, surviving life’s challenges, the importance of trusting God, having a strong prayer life and many more in my early twenties. I would often pass out these writings to friends, co-workers and church members. I can not tell you the number of times I would hear comments such as “This is just what I needed. This was a rhema word for me.” “Do you have any more?” “When will your write again.” Those comments not only encouraged me but provided me withe momentum to continue writing while confirming that this world needs more encouraging words, faith-inspiring words, and words of empowerment to help them survive and thrive during life’s challenges. So as a result of my passion to empower others both naturally and spiritually, both DSB Ministries, Inc and DSB Life Solutions, LLC were birthed.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own both a nonprofit, DSB Ministries, Inc and a LLC, DSB Life Solutions. I am very proud of both. While they both deal with empowering others to live their lives to the fullest, they have distinguishing marks. DSB Life Solutions offers my literary sources of empowerments and federal trade marked T-shirt line. DSB Ministries focusing more on my ministry work as an evangelist, intercessory, Christian counselor and life coach.
I am so very proud of them both. I never saw myself as a business owner, but now I am an owner of two thriving businesses and I love it. Sure as with any worthy endeavor there are challenges and have been challenges. But when you’re doing what you’re called to do, you know deep inside that God will always make a way regardless to whatever challenged is face. And the fact that I am able to offer these services on a global platform thanks to the internet and social media is such a huge benefit! To be able to impact the world in positive ways, now that’s something to be proud of!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, the list is long of the places and things we would do. Some of my favorite restaurants we would visit are Stoney River, Carrabba’s, Olive Garden and Firebirds. We would also visit two of my favorite soul food restaurants, Soul Fish Cafe and Southern Hands. Breakfast places we would go to would definitely include Waffle House. I so love Waffle House! I also like good movies, so most definitely we would go to the movies and poplar spots like Top Golf, Bass Pro Shops and our Civil Rights Museum.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my father, Albert Springfield. My father, who is deceased, play a very important role in who I am today. His strong support and untiring mentorship and encouragement provided me with the push I needed to accomplish my goals. He always wanted the best for me push me to be the best. I remember when I was trying to figure out which college I wanted to attend. I had settled on one that was very poplar and promising. My Dad didn’t push, but suggested to me why not go to one of the top ones here in Memphis. I thought about what he said and then did research on that college. To make a long story short, I applied and was accepted into one of the most prestigious colleges here in Memphis, Christian Brothers University (then Christian Brothers College). It was his gentle push for me to be the best and strive for the best that caused me to “go for the gold” when pursuing any of my goals.
