Hi Destiny, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
In this era we live in now, success has become more of a look rather than a true lifestyle. It has been limited to flashy pictures and the standards have changed. To me success is more intimate. I believe that success should be measured by what is placed on the inside of you that you utilize for others. Utilizing your gifts, talents and abilities to help advance others is success. When you’re able to see your impact by being the authentic you, that’s success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a trailblazor in the beauty world has completely blown my mind. Being in a position to make other women feel beauty is an honor. Every single time I am able to enhance another woman’s beauty, I become excited like it is my first time. The excitement never runs out, but it continues and I love it. My burning passion sets me apart from others in the beauty industry.

Although being in the beauty industry was never in my “ 5 year plan,” I have chosen purpose over my own personal desires. Of course choosing purpose over my plans was not easy, but I understood that my yes to purpose will offset many great things. I have learned how to jump over hurdles, make quick revisions, the importance of diversity, as well as how to plow through even on the rainy days.
My desire is for the world to know there is no need to settle and cause unhappiness in your every day life. There is something on the inside of you, that God so strategically placed only in you, that only YOU CAN DO. You just have to work it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Memphis is full of hidden gems, not to mention we have the best food in the world. If my best friend was visiting for the week, I would take her to one of my favorite go-to spots, Brookhaven Pub and Grill. Brookhaven has the best all around food. The atmosphere is always super chill and everything on the menu is delicious. After, we would enjoy the beauty of Shelby Farms Park. At Shelby Farms, you can spend your whole day there just enjoying the various activities. I love basketball so of course we would catch The Memphis Grizzlies in action and afterwards explore the famous Beale Street. One of my favorite things in the city to do is catch local artists showcasing their talents. Whether its singing, rapping or playing an instrument.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As I progress throughout life, I’m thankful that God strategically planted me at Truth Generation Church in Memphis,TN. As my feet were planted, I began to become. I have been mentored, discipled and loved by my leaders, The Cunningham’s. This has catapulted me into a whole different lifestyle, which has me where I am today; thriving and becoming.
