Meet David Watson | Songwriter and Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started the business of Songwriting after 30 years as a Tennessee State Park Ranger.
I consider it a hobby with business perks. Writing is a daily thing for me and I perform my songs biweekly at various venues in middle Tennessee and Festivals in other states.
I have photographed and videoed several artist for their EPKs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I retired from Tennessee State Parks after 30 years as a Park Ranger. My duties included law enforcement, first aid, rescue, facilities management, programming, safety and security of staff, visitors, lands and animals. The diversity of the position gave me the opportunity to be a student of life and a positive influence in it.
Art and Music were a tool I got to use often and after retirement I could do at a more professional manner.

I have been told by listeners that my lyrics remind them of Kristofferson, Prine , Dillon and Guy Clark all of which I’m proud of the comparison.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s go walking to see the lakes and streams around home .. Listen to the tree frogs at night singing by a burning fire pit..
Tomorrow we’ll walk through downtown Lynchburg, Tenn. and maybe a trip to Music row in Nashville.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Depression era grandparents and a mother and father who stuck it out.. Determination, faith and family
