We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Bagwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is staying consistent. With all the hard work you might put in, if you’re not consistent then it won’t matter. I’ve uploaded my podcast every Friday for the past 2 years and I’ve stayed on top of my social media. Being consistent has allowed me to continue with my podcast, meet new and incredible people, and give others a chance to share their voice or opinions.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Drinking After Dark is a podcast where we discuss random topics while having a few drinks. I started the podcast over 2 years ago with an idea that I had while hanging out with some friends late at night. What sets me apart and most proud of is that I have created a platform so that I can give others a place to promote their brands and discuss whatever is on their mind without any judgement. It’s a podcast where I like to have fun and not get into any drama. This journey was fun, but it wasn’t easy. One of the biggest hurdles that I had to overcome was to get people to believe in me. A lot of people will start something, but they weren’t serious about it. In order for people to take me serious was that I had to show them and be consistent in uploading episodes every week and continue to push my podcast across my social media pages.

Some of the lessons that I have learned along the way is that your content might not be for everyone and not everyone will support you. Another lesson that I have learned is to be patient. We can’t rush success and at times we have to learn how to take some breaks during the time so we don’t burn ourselves out. One of the lessons I’ve learned from a former basketball coach is to have fun. I think this is why I’m still going strong with my podcast. One thing I want the world to know about my brand is that Drinking After Dark is a platform for others to promote anything and to have fun. Creating the podcast has allowed me to meet incredible people and help others talk about anything or promote their brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting my hometown of Clarksville, Tennessee we would have to go hang out at Skyline 500 for drinks to catch up. When we are feeling hungry, I would take him to Legends Smokehouse & Grill for lunch and then for dinner we would go to The Mailroom. There is nothing better than sports, so we would go check out an Austin Peay State University basketball game. Of course we would have to hang out with some of our former classmates from high school. And lastly, we would have fun at the City Forum playing games, go kart racing, bowling, and having some drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my wife DeAsia, my mother Cathy Bagwell Joe Shakeenab, all my family, friends, and everyone who participated and supported the podcast.
