Meet Danielle Beinstein | Psychological and Counseling Astrologer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Beinstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I feel like so much of life, so much of aging and wisdom is learning to differentiate between what we think will make us happy and what genuinely will. I find a lot of joy in simplicity. Slow mornings, a perfect cappuccino and croissant, a walk with my pups, a beautiful meal shared over lively and meaningful conversation, laughter. Art makes me happy, making my way through a well curated exhibit, or a great piece of theater, literature. I’m a voracious reader and learning always stirs me, especially learning about history. I would say the thing that most excites me, which is in a way a form of happiness, is travel. Everything from the planning to the arrival and experience. But ultimately happiness is fleeting. Lovely but fleeting. The thing most seek now is contentment, fulfillment.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Psychological and Counseling Astrologer. My work is a combination of astrological interpretation. Rogerian therapy and spiritual guidance. I completed a MA in Spiritual Psychology, with an Emphasis in Consciousness, Health and Healing in 2014. My journey has been unexpected and illuminating. I definitely have a lawyer in me somewhere or a culture writer. I never thought I’d end up here, doing what I do, but it’s been so fulfilling and meaningful. Lots of twists and turns led me to where I am. And I’m very grateful but, like anyone, there are always the paths we didn’t take. And I think about that, more as I get older, of course. But I’ve found a way to weave so many of my interests into the tapestry of my work. And my work, despite sounding quite esoteric, is also pragmatic. I’m interested in how we live day to day in this modern world. I’m devoted to bridging the spiritual and the mundane. Not everything can be tied up in a bow. I’d like to think I aid others in navigating the messiness of life, in grounding and centering. That’s my intention, always, in setting an unconditionally loving space with my clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, Dozen Bakery for a cappuccino and a baguette with butter, jam, eggs and bacon and a sourdough for the road, followed by a walk around Radnor Lake. Afternoon visit to 12th Ave South. Dinner at Lou, Rolf and Daughters or Folk (our go-tos), or Locust if we can snag a table. And then the next morning we’d head to Leiper’s, grab a coffee and pastry at Hank’s and check out all the galleries and Patina, before heading to Franklin for more antique shopping. Germantown, too. I love Spread Market and Larder, and Steadfast Coffee. And of course, Rolf and City House. I’d try for a show at the Ryman or a night at The Station Inn, which I’ve been meaning to get to. My friend Sarah Scarborough, Tea Huntress, leads the most wonderful tea ceremonies at her Forest Retreat house. I actually did bring my best friend when she came for a visit! Some of our other favorite spots are Proper Bagel (best lox in town, flown in from Brooklyn), Smith and Lentz, Roberta’s, Bare Bones Butcher. Nashville has so much to offer. It’s really such a thrilling time to live here, with all the growth and expansion, but I do love the almost small town feel of it.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The first thing that comes to mind, honestly, is all the writers who have informed me through the years, from childhood to now. But I’d say that the support and nurturing of my partner of the last 7 years, Daniel (we have nearly identical names), because it’s been instrumental to my growth. And then my friendships, which are so deeply valuable for me.
