Meet Danielle Buntyon | Hemp Farmer and Medical Cannabis Processor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Buntyon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Embarking on my journey into the cannabis industry was like stepping into a vibrant, unexplored realm where possibilities stretched as far as the eye could see. The decision to pivot from the structured confines of corporate life to the dynamic world of cannabis was fueled by a burning desire to channel my untapped reservoir of knowledge into a burgeoning field.
Driven by this passion, my quest for mastery commenced at the Tennessee State University New Farmers Academy, where the seeds of my cannabis expertise were sown. The decision to immerse myself in the art and science of cultivation was pivotal, and as I delved into the intricacies of the process, I unearthed a profound connection with the plant. From germination to harvest, each stage became a canvas for me to express my newfound passion.
Armed with this newfound knowledge, I took the bold step of registering as a hemp grower, laying the groundwork for a venture that would soon become a testament to my dedication. The very act of registering symbolized my commitment to becoming an integral part of an industry that was not only evolving but also reshaping perceptions.
As the tendrils of my ambition stretched further, I transitioned seamlessly into the medical cannabis sector, marking the inception of my extraction company. Specializing as a medical cannabis processor, I found myself at the heart of innovation, creating a niche for myself under the banner of Mink and Kimball Extracts. This marked the inception of a chapter where I would play a pivotal role in crafting the future of the Arkansas medical cannabis market.
In the laboratory, where precision meets creativity, I honed my skills to craft infused items that would captivate the senses and provide therapeutic relief to a discerning consumer base. From oils to edibles, each product bore the imprint of my dedication to quality and my relentless pursuit of excellence. The canvas of creation expanded, and Mink and Kimball Extracts emerged not merely as a business venture but as a beacon of innovation and reliability in the medical cannabis landscape.
The thrill of navigating the intricate regulatory landscape, coupled with the joy of witnessing the positive impact of my products on individuals, fueled my determination. Each hurdle became a stepping stone, and every setback was a lesson in resilience. The journey was not without its challenges, but with each challenge, I discovered new facets of my own capabilities and the boundless potential of the cannabis industry.
Beyond the balance sheets and profit margins, my venture became a testament to the transformative power of passion and perseverance. The excitement of being at the forefront of an industry poised for unprecedented growth was palpable, and every milestone achieved was a victory not just for my business but for the collective spirit of cannabis enthusiasts and advocates.
As I reflect on the evolution of my cannabis journey, I am reminded of the words of Henry Ford: “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” In the pulsating rhythm of the cannabis industry, I found not just a business but a community—a collective of visionaries and pioneers working together to redefine norms and cultivate a future where the potential of cannabis is fully realized.
In conclusion, my foray into the cannabis industry transcends the realms of business—it is a testament to the transformative power of passion, the boundless potential of an evolving landscape, and the exhilaration of being at the vanguard of innovation. The canvas is still unfolding, and as Mink and Kimball Extracts and Jades Elevation continues to thrive, I remain steadfast in my commitment to shaping a future where the cannabis industry stands as a beacon of progress and limitless possibilities.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My companies Jades Elevation and Mink and Kimball Extracts focus on providing cannabis to the world that is naturally grown with no pesticides and harsh chemicals used during the extraction process. We also grow other veggies and fruits that we use to make our edibles and other products. All of our products are third party tested for compliance in the medical markets. I got to where I am business wise by being focused and persistent this is not an easy industry to get into and also not easy to stay in. The fact that it was not easy but i still maintained to acquire the needed licensing to be in the industry. During this journey I have had a lot of lessons, but the biggest lesson is never quite and many times the fact that I’m the only black in the room motivates me to work hard so more people that look like me can have a seat at the table.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you came to Memphis, TN I would first start by making a stop at Sunrise Memphis for breakfast and then we would head over to West Memphis Arkansas to my favorite dispensary to gather some great products. (must be a medical patient but they allow out of state patients) once we have that we will spend the day downtown exploring the many things that downtown Memphis has to offer. We must stop at Sage to get some cocktails.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to two organizations that have help me so much along the way. Aglaunch, Nashville EC- Twende program, the National Black Growers Council and Tennessee State University.
These organizations have helped me evolve my career in the hemp and cannabis industry. These organizations have helped me gain much needed capital, learn about pitching investors and also providing me with avenues to spread my knowledge with others by allowing me to teach local farmers.
