Meet Daelynne Mauch | Fashion Merchandising Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daelynne Mauch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daelynne, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since I was little, fashion has always been something that’s completely captivated me. I’d wake up and immediately throw on a dress-up gown, little heels, necklaces, and sunglasses. It felt like stepping into my own little world where I could be whoever I wanted through what I wore. That excitement for fashion never went away as I grew up; in fact, it just got stronger. What started as childhood play turned into a genuine love for the creativity and artistry that fashion is all about.
A big part of this journey has been shaped by my mom, who’s always been my biggest supporter and style inspiration. She dressed me in the cutest outfits, and our shopping trips were a chance to explore new styles and embrace our creativity. More than that, she always encouraged me to follow my heart and do what made me happiest. She’d tell me to chase my dreams and reminded me that success isn’t just about financial security, but about doing something you love and finding fulfillment. Her advice stuck with me, and it’s been the foundation of my career path ever since.
To me, fashion isn’t just about clothes.. it’s about self-expression, telling stories, and empowering people. It’s a way to communicate without saying a word, to show who we are and how we see the world. I’ve always believed that what we wear can inspire confidence and creativity, and even change the way we feel. That’s why I’ve always been determined to pursue a career in fashion and give it my all.
So, I made the decision to leave my small town in Ohio and move to Nashville, Tennessee, to dive into a city that really embraces creativity. Now, as a Fashion Merchandising student at Belmont University, I’m learning how to combine my passion for fashion with the skills I need to turn that passion into a successful career. Every day, I’m reminded that fashion isn’t just a job for me. It’s my way of connecting with the world and encouraging others to embrace their own unique styles and stories.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a junior Fashion Merchandising student at Belmont University, currently studying and interning in New York City through the Belmont East program. Being in the heart of the fashion industry has been an incredible experience, exposing me to the fast-paced, ever-changing world I’ve always dreamed of.
Right now, I’m interning at a wholesale showroom, where I’ve had the chance to see New York Market and Coterie up close. This hands-on experience has strengthened my passion for merchandising and given me real insight into the buying process. I also had the amazing opportunity to intern at New York Fashion Week for the Grey/Ven show, where I got to see firsthand how a runway show comes to life.
Beyond New York, I studied fashion abroad last May, traveling to London, Paris, and Florence. Experiencing the industry from a global perspective deepened my appreciation for the artistry and business behind fashion.
None of this has been easy, but I’ve learned that trusting God’s plan is everything. He always puts us exactly where we need to be, even when we don’t see the full picture yet. I’ve also realized how important it is to treat people with kindness and respect. This industry is built on relationships, and a genuine heart goes a long way. No matter how much I accomplish, I always want to stay eager to learn, ready to lend a helping hand, and open to whatever opportunities God places in front of me. Fashion has always been my passion, and these experiences have only confirmed that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Nashville for a week, I’d want to show them all the places that make this city feel like home to me.
We’d start the morning at Buttermilk Ranch because their coffee and pastries are unreal, and it’s the perfect spot to ease into the day. On a nice day, we’d walk around 12 South, pop into some cute boutiques, and just enjoy the energy of the area.
Shopping at Green Hills Mall is a must. It’s my favorite place to shop, and I could spend hours there. I’d also take them to Belmont’s campus because, honestly, it’s one of the prettiest campuses I’ve ever seen. While we’re there, we’d grab an acai bowl and just hang out for a bit.
For dinner, we’d go to The Henry. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere makes it such a great spot to unwind.
At least one night, we’d have to catch a concert or show. There’s always something going on in Nashville, and live music is such a big part of what makes this city so fun. And to end the trip on the best note, we’d go to Ethos Downtown for church. It’s my favorite place to be on a Sunday, and I’d love for them to experience it.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shout out my family, especially my mom and grandma. They’ve been my biggest supporters, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and encouragement. My mom is the most giving and selfless person I know. Everything she does is for the success and happiness of her children. Not only is she my mom, but she’s also one of my best friends. She’s always been there to listen, offer advice, and push me to follow my dreams, no matter how big they are.
My grandma has always been a huge role model in my life. She and my mom showed me what it means to love Jesus with all your heart and trust in Him. Their faith has been such an important part of my life, and it’s been the foundation of my strength through everything. I’ve learned how to rely fully on God and trust His plan, no matter where life takes me.
And, of course, I wouldn’t be where I am without my four siblings, stepdad, and grandpa. They’ve been there every step of the way, supporting me in everything I do. From offering a listening ear to cheering me on, they’ve helped me build the confidence to keep moving forward. I’m so grateful to have such an amazing, supportive family that’s always in my corner.
