We had the good fortune of connecting with Cortney McMahon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cortney, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Listening. I learned a long time ago that a leader’s most important job is to listen to the people. If there weren’t cares and concerns from the public than there’d be no such thing as leaders. The same goes for business, regardless of brand.

To start a successful business, brand, or nonprofit people have to look at what the public want and/or need. Businesses fill the gaps of those needs, no matter how big or small, and they can come in all forms i.e. entertainment, education, inspiration, physical, emotional, etc. So, in essence a successful business owner is a type of respectful leader to a community either online or in-person.

No human is an island onto themselves and in business it’s a must to recognize, appreciate, and deliver to others without the public asking outright for it. To listen to them, see them, understand them, and have a willingness to show up for others is more important than all the other details of operating a business. It is the true basis of success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what makes “Stars of the Morning Light” (SML) different than other businesses or brands, besides its name, is the mix of endeavors I’m willing to undertake. What started as a simple 10-minute meditation podcast for people on the go, has turned into a full resource platform including community events, services, online teaching, and hopefully one day a publishing company.

I found out a couple of years ago that I am a manifesting generator via Human Design (a comprehensive look at one’s personal life journey), and one of the significant markers of a manifesting generator is we tend to produce many different projects simultaneously. My goal is simple but the implementation of it can a bit more complicated as SML continues to grow in public awareness. It takes willingness and trust to continue on my journey as a healer, teacher, and creator.

My goal is to education others. This many come in the form of creating YouTube videos that breakdown ancient texts and apply their meanings to current life, or my services that included Past Life Karma Cleanses that help people live free from old energetic baggage and/or Akashic Records Readings that can answer any of life’s questions.

I also help educated the public with the help of others, as the founder of NEW EARTH ENERGY MARKET. NEEM is a local, Chattanooga & Northwest GA, holistic and cultural event that happens in April. Every April we have either a 2-day Holistic Fair or 1-day Holistic & Cultural Festival.

April 2024 will bring a Holistic Fair to Ringgold, GA (20 minutes south of Chattanooga) full of vendors, healers, and readers so the public can meet others in a casual environment.

April 2025 will be an outdoor Holistic & Cultural Festival, also in Ringgold, with vendors, performers, and musicians from different cultures so people can experience a celebration of life.

As the founder for NEEM, I know it takes everyone’s participation to care and help change our world for the better, and I have to give another shoutout to those that help in all aspects of creating this beautiful enterprise with me! The Team of NEEM is a small group of like-minded people who want to help educate and inspire the surrounding communities about all things holistic and embrace our cultural differences with love and appreciation. New Earth Energy Market is slowing growing with the hope of one day having largescale events that bring froth the positive energy that will help create the new earth.

So needless to say, I am always creating, helping, and educating with a mix of opportunities so that all people can receive and know that are a beautiful shining Star!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Great Question! I live in Ringgold, Georgia which is a remarkable American small town that is 20 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN and 20 minutes north of Dalton, GA. This is a bit of a difficult question because on any given day we could stay local with an array of activities or sights to choose from, and/or travel to larger cities for more excitement. We are located a simple hour and half drive to Nashville, Knoxville, or Atlanta.

I suppose on the first day of visiting, we’d take it easy and stay local in Ringgold, GA. We’d spend the morning walking around town viewing the amazing murals, visiting the hometown shops and galleries, and the famous Ringgold Wedding Chapel that Dolly Parton and many other famous southern artists were wed. For lunch we’d eat at Sanctuary Restaurant and Tea Room with some possible antiquing afterwards.

I am originally from northern Illinois, and I’ve never known there to be so many events happening in one area, from multiple farmers markets, nature walks, live music, historical sights, etc. My favorite tourist attraction in Chattanooga, TN is Ruby Falls! Ruby Falls is the largest American underground waterfall that words cannot describe its beauty and wonder. Breathtaking! We’d definitely visit Ruby Falls.

The historical sights and museums in the Tennessee Valley and Northwest Georgia area can bring perspective to American history, and that for me, is a must to visit. The Civil War Chickamauga Battlefield Museum and Lookout Mountain Civil War Museum can create a scoop in one’s mind as to how impactful and huge the war was in landmass and deaths. Throughout this area people will see signs that mark the location of the Trail of Tears and different museums that represent the local natives including Red Clay State Park. As someone who appreciates all forms of history, I would also love to take my guest to the Bessie Smith Cultural Center and the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

The opportunities to have a fun night out are endless in both Dalton, Georgia and Chattanooga. We could enjoy riverboat or railroad dinning, music festivals, comedy clubs, movies in Coolidge Park, drum circles on Signal Mountain….the list truly never ends.

Needless to say, to make an itinerary of an interesting and valuable experiences, I could easily create it during my morning cup of coffee.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to the Patrons of “Stars of the Morning Light” (SML) on Patreon.com. As a Healer, Teacher, Creator it is difficult to know if or when others are resonating with my work. The community of Patrons at SML are often the inspiration needed to continue serving the public.

The Patrons of SML have great willingness to learn, grow, and live their highest potentiality. Twice a month I teach private classes and they have begun meditating together on Sunday mornings to help each other manifest. They are willing to work with the tools and skills taught, and care for one another regardless of never meeting. They are a beautiful, respectful, caring, online community that embrace healthy change and enlightenment in one another.

To witness their interest in learning and expanding is my greatest joy!
Thank you, Patrons!
