Meet Cort Carpenter | Country Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cort Carpenter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cort, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important thing to my career success is the fans. As a singer, fans are what make your career go. Over the past decade, I have tried to personally connect with as many fans as I can because building a lasting relationship with the fans is key. You need these fans to love your music, buy tickets, sport my merchandise etc.. Without the fans, you don’t have a career.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my voice. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I feel nobody sounds like me in the industry. You can turn on country radio right now, and hear several artists who sound alike. They may sound amazing, but they sound similar. I just feel my voice is fresh and something different and people really dig that. I’m not super country sounding like most country singers, but I do have some country flavor in my voice mixed with my Washington State “accent”.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve taken this career, and all the things I have and continue to accomplish as an unsigned artist. If you look back at everything we’ve done, it is something to be proud of. It’s hard not to look and want more every day, but I do need to appreciate what I’ve been able to do.
Getting to where I’m at today hasn’t been easy. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions. As an artist, you want to be the biggest artist you can. So, not having that one big break yet, puts more work on my shoulders to keep pushing and hoping for it. I feel I’m in a good spot and my voice is as good as it’s ever been, so I feel like I’m coming into my prime. Getting older is never easy in the music industry, but I feel I still bring a vibe that people love which is good. Overcoming all the challenges is as simple as just moving forward after a good pep talk. Whether that be from my Wife or Family, I’ve got the best support staff in the world, so I’m able to overcome adversity and keep pushing.
I want the world to know what it has taken to get to where I am in the music industry being unsigned. I just hope one day the world can hear my voice, my lyrics, my songs, because I know they are going to relate to them and love it. Just give me the chance to show you by turning on my music or come see a show.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nashville is a booming city with cool spots everywhere you look. My favorite spots in the city to eat are Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, Bar Taco, Nectar Urban Cantina, and Uncle Julio’s. These are some of our go-to places ourselves, or when people are in town. This is just naming a few though.
When it comes to hanging out, you have to love the Broadway strip. Always fun down there. But my family and I love to go see Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Percy Priest Lake, The Parthenon, and Shelby Bottoms Mansion (where I walk my Dog and my Son runs around).
Nashville is one of the best cities in the country to visit, and I encourage everyone to make it out for a visit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Fans are everything in my line of work. They know I have mad love for each and every single one of them. For this shoutout though, I wanted to give big props to my wife, my family back home, and my investors.
My wife is my go-to for anything music related. Though she isn’t in the music industry herself, she has one of the best ears out there when I need advice. She always keeps it real whether it’s good or bad. Every artist needs someone like this, and I’m lucky enough to have my wife by my side.
Big props also to my family back home. They of course are my biggest supporters, but they are also there every day to hear the struggles I endure in this business. They are there to pump me up, give encouragement, and just provide support. My parents and my Brother have always been there for me since I started this crazy music career.
Can’t forget the investors who have helped me along the way. Without their commitment and support to my music and me as a person, I wouldn’t be where I am at today. The music industry is one of the toughest things to succeed in, and I’m fortunate enough to be backed by some great friends who have kept this train rolling. I’ll forever be grateful for their continued support.
