Meet Coley Spencer | Wedding Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Coley Spencer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coley, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My mother worked as an oil painter while I was growing up and my older sister went on to be an artist as well. I was always surrounded by visual art and creativity. I received a nursing degree and while working as a nurse, I would do videography on the side when I could. As time went on, I was hired more to do wedding videography and later realized I wanted to do it full time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create wedding videos with both digital and super8 film footage. The mix of the two formats allows me to have more creative freedom. I approach each wedding with a similar mindset and approach, yet each video comes out unique to the couple. I love the idea that one person could document an event and create a final product that is completely different from how someone else would do it. I try to keep that mindset to keep each wedding fresh, rather than formulaic.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Favorite Casual Breakfast: Crieve Hall Bagel

Favorite Upscale Restaurant/Unique Dining Experience: Locust

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom! I saw her have a successful career in the arts growing up and that gave me the encouragement to try it for myself.
