Meet Coleen Hebert | Botanical Jewelry Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Coleen Hebert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coleen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If there is anything I’ve learned so far in life, it’s that leaving your comfort zone is scary. But I’ve also learned that every time you do leave your comfort zone, incredible experiences and growth happen. This always requires taking a risk. In January 2021 I decided to take a big risk and quit my job to go full-time with the business. It was scary at the time but I soon grew in confidence that I could sustain my living expenses by growing the business! Sure, things could always change requiring me to get another job. But I am so glad I took the leap into full-time self-employment when I did, Despite the risks. You truly will never know what could happen unless you try! And I’m willing to bet you’ll be surprised at what you are capable of.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of my consistently original designs! Being an artist I think it’s impossible to not be influenced by other artists, but you can still be unique despite the influence. From the beginning, I have also stayed true to my brand which has made marketing easier and more effective. As any artist would relate, there are times when you get in a creative rut, and making original designs can be challenging. The way I move myself through creative ruts is by getting rest and changing my scenery by spending time in nature or creative environments.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
East Tennessee is one of the best places to visit! When someone comes to visit I love to take them to Cades Cove and the Gatlinburg area to see some of the stunning Smokey Mountains. In Knoxville, I always take new guests to the Sunsphere to get a great view of the city. Then we usually eat at one of the many delicious restaurants downtown. Chivo’s and Stock and Barrel are two of my favs. After dinner, it only makes sense to walk over to Cruze Farm and get some incredible ice cream. And if you want a late-night drink, I love taking friends to Peter Kern’s or one of the beautiful rooftop bars!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t think I can pick just one person to shout out. Since the beginning of the business in 2019 I have met so many people who have been incredibly encouraging and supportive of my business and its growth. I feel like anyone who has ever made a purchase should receive a shout out because they have made it possible for me to live this dream of owning my own business! Knoxville, being the “Maker City” has also been very instrumental in the growth of my business! There are so many incredible businesses and influencers here that have generously helped spread the word about my craft.
