Meet Cody Bartels | Alt-Country Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cody Bartels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cody, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, my Dad owned a rain gutter company in the Seattle-Tacoma, WA area. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be able to set my own work schedule. Being your own boss also opens up the opportunity to make as much profit as you’d like, you just have to put the work in.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m 22-years old. I’ve ridden bucking bulls in Wyoming on a college scholarship, I’ve traveled the country as a trade-show salesman, and I’ve lived on a remote island in Alaska working at a fishing lodge. I think having lived such a lot-of-life in such a short amount of time has granted me a unique perspective on topics that not everybody wants to talk about.
Getting to where I’m at today was FAR from easy, but a revolving door of band mates and playing country-western music in a suburban setting makes for a good story, I suppose. I’ve learned that “never say die” and “the show must go on” are far more than just catchphrases. My only hope is that my songs bring the hard-working middle-class of the world a brief sense of relief from their day-to-day stress.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a song out on streaming platforms called “Ain’t Never Been to Texas”. Texas is a place I’ve wanted to visit since my rodeo days and the cowboy way of life has always called to me. Texas is rich with history, especially music history. I’d love to check out some of the spots that my heroes like Bob Wills played back in his day. An ice-cold Coors Light at a genuine dance hall like Billy Bob’s sounds like my kind of party.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported my music in any capacity, but most importantly, I’d like to thank my band mates; Sean Peabody, Dragen DeLao, and Devan Bland. I literally couldn’t do it without those guys consistently having my back both on and off stage.
