We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Leidhecker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what inspires you?
Genuine relationships! My favorite part of doing what I do is forming real friendships. I am so grateful for the people in my life, and I have met many of them through “work” opportunities. I get so inspired watching my friends do what they do best. It fills me up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Despite primarily working as a drummer, I write music that is pretty gentle in nature. I want to encourage stillness and introspection for myself and others with my music. My artist name is Spirisow, which is a word that I made up that is a combination of “sow” and “spirit”. I have been writing music for years but I’ve only begun to record and release it starting in 2021. I am very proud of what I have out so far, and I’m so excited about the music I’ll be releasing in 2024.

The challenges I’ve had to overcome have mostly centered around rejection. It’s a huge part of working in entertainment or being an artist. Learning how to weather rejection, to accept it and learn from it, or to even to just know when to brush it off has become so important. I’m continually learning to be at peace with the way that any opportunity shakes out. I can’t let something crush my momentum just because someone else had a different opinion than me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots in no particular order: Two Rivers & Shelby greenway, Sunflower Cafe & Bakehouse, Phat Bites in Donelson, Mirror Mirror in Donelson, Urban Cowboy Parlor Bar in East Nashville, 3rd & Lindsley on Monday nights to see The Time Jumpers, Be-Hive in East Nashville!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife Corinne, my parents, my brother, my in-laws, my whole family, my friends! So many people. I have always felt supported in what I do and I know that is rare, so I try to never take it for granted.
