We had the good fortune of connecting with Charity Daw and Josh Edmondson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charity Daw, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Outsiders may have a sense of how hard it is to break into the music industry, but not realize how hard it is to sustain a career. We fight so many battles daily, from streaming rates to staying competitive and ahead of trends, to contending with the roll of AI, not a path for the faint of heart. If you see someone out here doing it despite everything stacked against them, and you want to show support, purchase (not just stream) their music, go to their shows, and engage with their content. It can make all the difference in the world!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We’re a husband and wife duo of RIAA platinum and Billboard chart-topping producer/songwriters who craft bespoke music for a diverse array of media, from TV and film to brands, recording artists, and gaming. Some of our credits include NBC’s musical dramas ORDINARY JOE, the Emmy-nominated SMASH, Disney’s record-breaking DESCENDANTS trilogy, Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues & You and Rugrats, as well as Apple TV+’s Circuit Breakers, Mattel’s Polly Pocket: Adventure Studios and L.O.L Surprise!
Our tunes have been recorded by artists including Dove Cameron, Ally Brooke (formerly of Fifth Harmony), Jordin Sparks, Train, Zendaya, Laura Marano, Madilyn Bailey, Paris Hilton, We The Kings, legendary comedian Andrew Dice Clay, and Mike Love of Beach Boys fame. We’ve spent the last year and half crafting original, bilingual songs for DORA, the reboot of the iconic series Dora The Explorer. We’re so excited for that to premiere spring 2024!

Our work ethic and style have definitely served us well and set us apart. We want the music we make to be authentic, evoke a feeling, and transport listeners. It’s really cool to arrive at a place where we are being sought out for simply being ourselves and what we can bring to a project.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As east-siders at heart, a great East Nashville day would be brunch at Cafe Roze then a stop at the prettiest little shop in town, The Golden Slipper, then we’d have to grab an Orange Quinnamon Roll at Five Daughters bakery. At the end of a visit, my sister always stops by for a few on her way to the airport. A strong finish would be with a pie at Smith & Lentz; the best pizza in Nashville, hands down.

For a fun night out: Dinner at Rolf and Daughters or Once Upon A Time In France then for great music (and a taste of old Nashville), the iconic Roberts Western World on Broadway, Station Inn, or if it’s a Tuesday, Honkey Tonkin’ at American Legion Post 82! It’s also worth stopping by the picture-perfect, Dolly Parton-themed rooftop bar White Liomozeene for glittery champagne jello shots & selfies.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d have to give our Shoutout to our team and music family: Jonathan Gordon, Sam Hollander, Alex Geringas, Bret Disend, + Deborah Siegel! We’ve been fortunate to be able to curate a situation that plays to our strengths without being boxed in as creatives. We spent years unsigned, committed to navigating the right lane in the music industry for us, so It feels great to have success with people who truly believe in you and vice versa.
