Meet Cairo Douglas | SAHM currently

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cairo Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cairo, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Chicago, Illinois and the West Suburbs of Chicago (Aurora, Illinois, Batavia, Illinois, & Naperville, Illinois).
In my youth my family moved around quite a bit.
I loved being active as a child. I am the youngest of 4 children between my parents. We always played basketball growing up, then my big brother started running track & I wanted to do the same.
I began organized sports at 9. It definitely kept me grounded, focused, and motivated throughout my entire youth.
At 11 I started cross country. I believe running allowed me to gain strength beyond what I could perceive at the time.
Mentally, running is very challenging so it provided me ways to learn not only physical strength, endurance, and stamina but mental as well!
I dealt with quite a bit of adversity as a child/teenager, so I do feel that same resilience has helped me deal with obstacles in adulthood.
I feel as though my background impacts who I am today because at my core I feel I am that same hardworking go getter. No matter life’s obstacles God will see me through and I’m truly grateful for that.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently business is on pause since I’ve had my daughter 2 years ago now. I’ve been a SAHM, a basketball mom for my 8 year old, a PTO Mom, and devoting my life to Jesus Christ!
It’s been challenging, magical, & worth every minute! I know The Lord has me on this journey with a purpose just as when I began Trouble Fitness with a purpose.
I don’t believe many people show & teach the “real” aspects of life and the sometimes life-changing decisions we must make.
I’ll always choose obedience to God and the best decision for my family was & is for me to be home focusing on, pouring into, & nurturing my children currently.
I have no regrets and am truly grateful for the journey I’ve been on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Currently I live in Clarksville, TN which is about 40-45 minutes Northwest of Nashville.
I had a friend come visit from Illinois & we went to Nashville! I love it there because it gives more of the “big city vibes,” with me being from Chicago and all.
We went to Opry Mills Mall, & there are a million and one restaurants in Nashville to choose from.
If you’ve never been to Nashville you’d definitely have to go on Broadway and check it out. I don’t drink anymore, but for people who do they’d have a blast!
Some of my favorite restaurants are Char near The Mall at Green Hills, and Stoney River Steakhouse on West End.
I’d take them by Nissan Stadium where the Titans play to ride the scooters, walk the bridge over the river, and just enjoy the Nashville Nightlife. The people are great, the food is great, it would be unforgettable!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shout-out the people who have allowed me to grow & loved on me while doing so.
The people who have been a safe space for me & helped guide me along the way. There are 2 people specifically.
My Aunt Debbie Powell, for many years she’s taught me the importance of having the Lord in my life, even when I couldn’t see it. & I’ll forever have a special place in my heart for her!
She’s always honest and patient with me. She’s truly given me a sense of guidance and led me on the path to the bigger picture of life.
I also would like to shoutout my “Stepdad” who has really been my father since I was 5 years old Michael “Poppa Mike” White. He’s always been someone who’s kept me grounded & been realistic with me. He’s always supportive in my endeavors & a great listener whenever I need an ear.
I love both of these people dearly & am truly grateful The Lord has blessed me with them both.
