Meet Buddy Greenbloom | Performer & Cowboy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Buddy Greenbloom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Buddy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The story about why we create music and merchandise and how that dedication to western heritage and American traditions connects our audience to our brand and mission. The story behind the brand is the success behind the brand,

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In the realm of Americana music, there are artists, and then there are visionaries – individuals who not only interpret the genre but also reshape it, infuse it with novel elements, and inspire their audience with a fresh perspective. My work and endeavors fall into the latter category. I’m known for my unique blend of outlaw country and Neo-western compositions.
The appeal lies not just in exceptional songwriting talent, but also in presenting an intriguing personality. My journey serves as a testament to an unwavering passion for craft, evident in my exploration of varied music styles and enduring commitment to Americana roots music. Possessing a broad range of musical influences, my versatility and adaptability, enabling me to connect with a diverse audience.
For many years, I performed as a novelty act arranging new wave and punk rock classics into the country-western format. Where Depeche Mode used a synthesizer, I chose a dobro slide guitar. Where the Jesus and Mary Chain chose saturated distorted layers of guitar, I replaced it with folk-instrument polyrhythms that included jaw harp and nylon stringed guitar. This culminated with a licensed 10 song tribute to the Jesus and Mark Chain, Then in 2019 I evolved further when I dusted off my composition notebook to begin recording a trove of originals I had compiled over 20 years.
My last single release, “Gothic Cowboy,” perfectly encapsulates the Western prowess and storytelling skills. That single marked a significant milestone in my career, and my fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting our upcoming album Summer of 2025. The seamless blend of traditional and contemporary elements creates a unique cowpunk sound that resonates with listeners, leaving them eager for more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Alright, so I just got back from a week in Nashville, and let me tell you, it was a whirlwind! First off, I landed and headed straight downtown. Day one was all about soaking in the Broadway scene. I grabbed lunch at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken (medium, trust me, it’s plenty spicy) and then spent the afternoon bar-hopping, catching live music at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and The Bluebird Cafe (got lucky with a walk-in!). Day two, I dove into the history at the Country Music Hall of Fame, followed by a tour of the Ryman Auditorium – seriously, the energy in that place is electric. For supper, I treated myself to some amazing Southern comfort food at The 404 Kitchen. After supper, I hit up Dee’s Lounge up in Madison for a show – that’s a must-do! The next morning I enjoyed the murals in the Gulch area, they’re super instagrammable. For another night out, I went to Printer’s Alley, a historic spot with cool bars and a speakeasy vibe. I met some really friendly locals at a rooftop bar called L27, where I heard that country music star Morgan Wallen was arrested in April 2024 for throwing a chair from a Nashville bar’s rooftop. Honestly, the best part was just the vibe – the live music everywhere, the friendly people, and the incredible food. Nashville is a place where you can’t help but have a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The International Western Music Association deserves a tremendous debt of gratitude for being the vanguard of the cowboy poets and musical heritage of the West. Headed up nt Marsha Short and OJ Sikes, the IWMA encourages and supports the preservation, performance and composition of historic traditional and contemporary music and poetry of The West.
