Meet Brennley & Nathan Scarbrough | BN Photo and Video

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brennley & Nathan Scarbrough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brennley & Nathan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of our primary goals as a wedding photo and video team is to provide an incredible experience to our clients. We go above and beyond to help make their wedding day and each moment leading up to it exceptional. Whether it is cleaning up a drink spill on the dance floor or bustling the bride’s dress, we do what is necessary to create a stress-free and fun environment for our couples. We firmly believe that with the clients you serve at the forefront of your mind, your business can go far and be successful.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a husband and wife photo and video team that specializes in wedding documentation. Brennley is the primary photographer and Nathan is the primary videographer. We have always had a passion for creating art in different capacities, but never imagined we would have the opportunity to pursue what we love as a career. Nathan started out as a corporate intern and filming marketing materials for the company. Brennley started out as an intern for a traveling wedding photographer – which is where the spark began. Our company was established in 2020 with the concept of making the wedding planning process easier and more streamline. There were companies out there that offered photography or videography, but very few offered both. The idea was to simplify the booking process and ensure two of the most present wedding day vendors will work well together documenting one of the most important days of someone’s life. Since then we have documented over 90+ weddings and have continuously been in awe of the couples who have trusted in us wholeheartedly. Over time we have established our brand as BN Photo and Video. We pride ourselves on a true to color editing style that we continue to stay true to in an ever-changing market. We prioritize providing an exceptional experience to the couples we serve (aka the BN Experience.) We are most proud of the fact that we have been able to turn our passion into a fulfilling career where we are able to work for ourselves. We got to where we are today with many free sessions, part-time jobs to pay the bills, learning lessons, late nights, and a whole lotta hard work. It wasn’t an easy process, but we are grateful to finally be doing what we worked so tirelessly for. We have learned now more than ever how important work-life balance is. It is important to prioritize your work, but not at the expense of your personal life or relationships. A typical day in the life for us is primarily backend work such as editing, customer relations, social media, finances, etc. We strongly believe that our business degrees we received from the University of Memphis have been tremendously helpful in building our company and creating a strong foundation. Going into college we had different aspirations and were unsure what God had in store for us, but our passions and entrepreneurial spirit led us here. For that, we are thankful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we had a friend visiting us in the 901 this would be our itinerary for the day. We would start out at Belltower Coffee for some delicious breakfast and caffeine. We then would make our way to Memphis Animals Services to participate in one of their Dog Field Trips. Basically on Saturdays you can sign up to take one of the pups available for adoption on a field trip. It is a great day for them and for you! We’d all make our way to Shelby Farms after that to enjoy one of the prettiest areas Memphis has to offer. Next, we’d head on over to Crosstown Concourse to explore and get MemPops for the whole squad. To end the night, us and our friend would head on over to Hueys for some cheese fries because they are simply the best. Lastly, our final stop would be a Grizzlies Game with Rendezvous nachos in one hand and a growl towel in the other. #GoGrizz
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There were a handful of family members and friends who supported us from the very beginning. We believe we owe so much credit and recognition to them. They trusted us to document their moments when we had little to no experience. They helped us to expand our portfolio and build a name for ourselves in an overly saturated market. We are so appreciative of the love, support, and trust that they showed us in the early stages. Specifically, much recognition goes to our parents. They pushed us to believe in ourselves and pursue what made us happy. There were several people in our lives who didn’t see photography and videography as a “real job” but we are really blessed to say that our parents were never those people. They always always always urged us to do whatever it is we felt called to do. They were the biggest supporters and advocates for BN Photo and Video. Lastly, I (Brennley) want to give credit to Bing Osterman and Alli Nurthen. They were my two greatest mentors growing up and I wouldn’t be the photographer I am today without their guidance and insight. Thank you thank you thank you to all of you.
