Meet Bewindi Jackson | Christian Therapist, Author and Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bewindi Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bewindi, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind success is for me to move in alignment with purpose- when I say purpose, I don’t mean purpose as a fancy word people wear, but purpose as related to God’s calling and assignment for me. Being successful means walking in and living in obedience to God’s plan for my life. Success also means being able to be a blessing and serve others well- whether I am counseling, my podcasts, my books, helping people travel more for less or feel better or speaking. Success looks like leading well, loving people well, treating them well and with respect and providing support in a way that encourages, uplifts and empowers. Lastly, success also means being able to equip people well with tools to help them live in freedom. As a Christian and faith-based clinical leader, it is important to steward that well- to be distinctly christian, biblically sound and still provide compassionate service even to non – believers. Overall, success of the brand will look like impact, positive outcomes in a client’s life, positive changes, successful discharges, improvement in faith, increase in growth in relationship with Christ and improvement in overall well being, etc.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Against All Odds Professional Counseling Services was founded in Nov 2017 and is a private mental health practice serving clients in Tennessee.
I believe in giving the highest quality care based on Christian principles to help people feel empowered, encouraged, and equipped with practical strategies for gaining new perspectives to live freely. The vision is to offer transformational services to working professionals including entrepreneurs, college students, and married couples so that they can disrupt unhealthy cycles and patterns, replace unhealthy coping and narratives with healthier ones, and rise above all circumstances despite the odds against them. I am called to partner with people (professionals, executives, Christians, young adults, adults, couples) through God’s power to help move them toward healing and freedom. I treat the whole person by way of counseling for the mind, christ centered counseling for the spirit, help people travel more, better for less which is helpful for the total person as well as help people through natural products to heal internally and externally. One of the things that sets this practice apart is the values:
FISK-Q
• Faith
• Integrity
• Service
• Kindness
• Quality
It has not been easy – but I am thankful to be in position to serve. I continue to seek consultation, training to help me be competent and I continue to rely on my faith to get me through. I am very proud of being a clinician and to serve people. I am constantly learning that I have to be flexible and be willing to change and pivot. I am also learning that I cannot work in silo and although I love working from home and have since March 2020- it is important to have a community or access to community.
I am learning that business is not about me and the value of consultations to determine best fit for clients- understanding that I cannot serve everyone nor am I supposed to.
I am learning and this is still difficult that there is a time to rest my body, rest my mind because in business your mind is always on- it’s good to unplug and have fun! It’s important to be refreshed and rest on God’s promises and in prayer and it’s also good to connect with others and disconnect. I love to travel and am so thankful that I am part of an amazing travel club that allows me to travel better for less.
I am constantly learning the importance of routines, structure and prioritizing tasks- even making space to work on my physical health, my own mental health and ensuring that I stay anchored in my faith- after all how can I show up to others if I’m not my best.
I recognize that I will never arrive but will constantly learn.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have only lived here since 2006- so still I am learning the city but I would take my bff to Trader Joes, Crosstown Concourse, Mid town and Harbortown.
Places to eat: I would take her to Citi Silo restaurant, Memphis Pizza Cafe, Taziki’s, Carrington Oaks in Lakeland and Soul Cafe.
We would check out Germantown/ places there; painting sessions- it really depends on her interests
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honor first and foremost the reason for my existence and the hope of my salvation, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is He who empowers me to do what He has called me to do because I truly would not be able to do anything without His favor, His strength and grace.
I want to give a shout out to my husband, Johnny Jackson for his love for me, and support of me while allowing me the space to grow, and be creative and flow in my assignment and anointing. I give a shout out to everyone who supports me, believes in me, prays for me, and celebrates me! I am especially grateful to Power Media Solutions lead by Sharen Rooks who lead me to Bluff City Magazine and A Plus Media Solutions lead by Amanda Avery who continues to help me dream bigger and translates by ideas and vision into creativity for more visibility. I am thankful for Charnel Self with Speak Through Me Communications to inspired and equipped me to write my first 2 books.
