We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Snapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beth, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
As both a bodywork business owner, as well as a singer-songwriter, I think my brand is most influenced by ‘the co-created experience.’ Lasting impressions are often built from relationship…not what I tell you to do, what you tell me to do, but what we do together to find a common bond and goal.

In music, it’s finding stories that link us in solidarity. It’s that, “oh, you get how I feel!” moment, combined with interaction between listener and creator.

In bodywork and rehab, it’s listening to my client’s needs, priorities, and goals, and combining them with my knowledge and experience, in order to create a personalized plan for health and wellness.

It’s a symbiotic relationship, built on authenticity and communication, and it’s pretty simple. When someone feels heard or seen, a lasting impression is made. If I can enhance a healing situation for you, no matter the medium of healing, I have succeeded. If I encouraged you to buy into your own story and who you are, I have succeeded.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer-songwriter, an OT, an LMT, and now a business owner of a bodywork business that focuses on rehab inspired massage therapy. How did I get here? 2020! My music career came to a halt, there were no live shows and suddenly I found myself with a lot more free time. As an OT in the hospital system, I worked the COVID units when things were very scary and burnout was exponential. The healthcare system is broken, and it was breaking me. I realized I wanted a career that focused more on wellness than sickness. With all this new found time, I went back to massage therapy school, and eventually opened up my own cash-based, rehab focused bodywork business. This year, I was able to expand with my first 2 employees as well!

I am pleased to say we provide services to a lot of healthcare workers and other folks who fight the good fight in their own ways. We help them understand how to listen to their bodies and take care of themselves as they care for others. We strive to include follow up home programs and education to maximize a person’s healing and wellness. I don’t want you to leave a just feeling better from a massage/bodywork session. I want you to feel empowered to address your own health and pain, and have the education to keep working when you leave my room.

Incidentally, it helped my direction as a singer-songwriter. The business has allowed flexibility for me to be in both worlds, but more importantly, it solidified my brand as a writer. I’ve always written about the human experience with the intent of finding meaning and healing, but I also have a pretty big guilt and shame button, not always accepting myself. I often wanted to hide, and felt afraid of sharing my own vulnerability. Somehow, in growing this business, it gave me permission and ownership to continue focusing on that experience in the writing and performing world too. I don’t get as anxious, I can share more, and it has moulded my stage presence and interactions in such a way that there is more room for healing and acceptance.

Bottom line, if I can do my bit in my teeny corner of a hurting world, I’m doing something. If it hadn’t been for those scary months in the COVID units, I don’t think I would be where I am now, and for that, I am grateful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are too many names to shout out to, but I have been blessed and surrounded by leaders, artists, practitioners, coaches, who I glean from daily. I’ve learned how to hold boundaries, create successes for others, use vulnerability and authenticity as a medium of healing and connection. Many have given to me, and it drives me to continue giving forward!
