Meet Ashley Clemens | Nutritionist, Health Coach and Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Clemens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” ― Maya Angelou This has always stuck with me because I realize that the lasting impression you can have on people is how you make them feel in general and also about themselves. The people in my life who have made me feel safe, seen, self-confident, hopeful, and inspired have truly changed my life and motivated me to change my own life because of their encouragement and belief in me. This quote is a reminder for me to strive to make that positive impact on all the people I encounter, especially those that trust me to guide them on their health and fitness journeys.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My first profession was teaching and instructional coaching, which definitely carries into what I do now. I love teaching, but fitness was always my other passion. I’ve now found a way to combine both as I teach women how to eat and exercise to build a body and lifestyle they love. I’m a certified trainer and nutritionist and I coach women virtually through my Fit Life membership program where custom nutrition goals, a progressive workout program, education and accountability come together to help my clients get results.
I love working with women new to weightlifting to help them build strength and confidence. It’s the most rewarding process! I also work with many women who want to lose fat and build muscle to optimize their physique in a healthy way. I help them do this by teaching them how to track their nutrition and fuel themselves properly – eating all foods in moderation! I love helping women heal their relationship with food and I feel continually motivated by seeing the positive change that happens for my clients mentally, physically, and emotionally as they develop healthier habits and get stronger. It’s extremely rewarding to celebrate someone’s first push up, achieving their fat loss goal, or just gaining confidence in how to fuel themselves properly for lifelong health and wellness.
What sets me apart from others is that I teach my clients how to be successful on their own by empowering them with the knowledge and tools they need to get and stay healthy long-term, so they don’t have to rely on a coach forever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend for a walk at Radnor Lake in the morning and then downtown to Sixty Vines for brunch! I’d go shopping in Hillsboro Village and grab a coffee at Barista Parlor. We would get lunch at Edley’s BBQ in 12 South to see a different part of town or maybe drive to Arrington Vineyards for the afternoon and bring a picnic! For dinner, I’d take her to Pinewood Social and then go dance at Kid Rock’s on Broadway for the honky tonk experience. I’d hit up Pvolve for a morning workout, Dozen Bakery for the world’s best blueberry muffin, and then go explore East Nashville another day. I would not let her leave Nashville without a donut from Five Daughters and a stroll across the pedestrian bridge for a photo in front of the city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Jeff Bergholtz, owner of Takes 2 Fitness here in Nashville. Before I completed my personal training certification, he welcomed me into the Takes 2 family and allowed me to shadow him and other veteran trainers at his gym. He taught me a lot about fitness and entrepreneurship. He offered me an opportunity to learn when I was inexperienced and just getting started, which set me up for success in the long run and I could not be more grateful!
