We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Fosmire & Jennifer Van Rickley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna Fosmire, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After working together for a local builder for several years, we found that we made a great team. We’ve always been able to bounce ideas off each other and combine our strengths to complete projects. Even after no longer working for the original builder, we would often talk about the details we loved while building projects for clients. One day we finally came to the realization that we could get our own contractor’s license and provide clients with the unique level of detail we’d become known for. We discussed how important it was to us that we be able to emphasize the pre-construction process by listening to our clients goals and providing them with detailed planning in order to deliver successful projects.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At VanMire, we blend expertise, passion, and
precision to create exceptional custom homes.
Co-founded by Anna Fosmire and Jennifer
Van Rickley, our team brings over 30 years of
experience in construction, design, and project
management. With a commitment to quality
craftsmanship and innovative design, we turn
your vision into a home built to last.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d take our friend to our favorite spots around town. Coffee at Mugsy’s, shopping & lunch at Miss Lucille’s, dinner at Old Glory (specifically on the patio when they have live music). We’d take a trip floating down the Red River. Spend a day shopping downtown Clarksville, catch a show at F&M Bank Arena, followed up with dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants downtown. We’d spend a day at the Ft. Campbell museum, and another doing touristy things in Nashville. Middle Tennessee definitely has so much to offer. It’s easy to keep out of town guests entertained.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When we were beginning the process of setting up our business, we reached out to John Crabbe, our former employer. We talked with him over dinner about our plans. Without hesitation he told us that we could do it, and be successful at it. He encouraged us to talk about what our personal and business coals were, and gave us the confidence to take the first step.
