We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Imlay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andy, how do you think about risk?
I took a risk in 2018 when I flew to Orlando Florida for an opportunity at the Orlando Improv.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a comedian who has a disability it makes me unique and different. People always like a joke about someone who doesn’t fit the narrative of their perception of what they’re used to in regards to a person who doesn’t have the same struggles in life. What I want people to know about me is that I share the same feelings and emotions they do just in a wheelchair. Setting myself apart is a great feeling and a welcome reminder that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Take them to a local arcade bar in the area and then to a local bar to support a local band or comedian

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely Chris Fonseca, when I first started out in comedy he’s the one that made me laugh and think about how my life could be made funny as well.
