Meet Amber Autry | Comedian & Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Autry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, is there something you believe many others might not?
I’ve heard people say “you shouldn’t apply for certain things until you’re ready” but I disagree. There’s no harm in applying and sometimes you think you’re not ready when you ARE. As a Producer I’ve seen clips of Comedians that were not ready to be on the show but I simply moved on- it’s not like I remembered their name and wrote a big “NEVER” in my brain. Apply. Go for it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a positive force of hilarious energy. This is what sets me apart. When I hit the stage people are ready to have a good time. The best compliment I get is “You remind me of my best friend.” I’ve always been this person but bringing it to the stage has been a process. Even if you’re a funny person you have to work on turning that talent into a skill. My advice for overcoming any challenges is to cultivate self love- Go to therapy, do mirror work, repeat mantras. As much as Comedians cringe when we hear this- this IS supposed to be fun!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Nashville is a GEM. There is so much to experience outside of Broadway; but while we’re on the topic, Broadway can be a blast. Go to Robert’s Western World and order the Recession Special that comes with a bologna sandwich, bag of chips, PBR, and moon pie for only $6. The music is great and it’s the oldest hockey tonk in Nashville! We have the best parks- check out Shelby Bottoms for a beautiful nature walk. As for the food you cannot go wrong. Hit Bill’s Sandwich Palace for the best sandwich you’ll ever have, Christie’s Cookies for a delicious treat, Red Headed Stranger for a veggie crunchwrap, and grab a cup of joe at Crema.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom and all the parents that fully support their kid’s dreams of being in the arts. My mom never said “well what’s your back up plan?” There was no backup plan. We were both all in and still to this day that keeps me going.
