We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Moulder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of Simplicity and Style is our amazing team. We have 6 women who comprise our team and each of them brings a wealth of knowledge, talent and hard work to every project. We work together to ensure our clients homes are organized in sustainable ways that are beautiful too! As the owner of a small business, I understand the importance of having a team of people who work well together, work to a high standard, are trustworthy and hardworking, and give their best on every project. I am so thankful to have found these qualities in each of the women on our amazing team of home organizers!

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business, Simplicity and Style, offers full service home organization for our clients. We offer a team-based approach that allows us to tackle big organizing projects or even whole-house move-ins in a short time. The best part? We do it all for our clients! Taking on a huge organization project is very time-consuming, but our team takes care of the entire process from space planning and product sourcing, to organizing, labeling and even taking away the donations. We implement customized solutions tailored to each client’s needs and goals. We truly believe that an organized home equals a more peaceful life, and we pride ourselves on helping our clients achieve that kind of simplicity through functional and aesthetic home organization. At the end of an organizing session, our clients are left with a space that is not only functional on a practical level, but also beautiful. We believe that if you aesthetically love the spaces in your home, you will be more likely to keep them that way too!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is such a fun question to answer because Louisville has so much to offer! We would definitely eat an any of Louisville’s amazing restaurants. For breakfast, Highland Morning in St. Matthews is one of my favorites (the breakfast burrito and the lemon pancakes are both amazing!) and if we wanted to linger longer over coffee, we’d head across the street to Quill’s Coffee Shop for a little extra caffeine.

After breakfast, we’d bike the Louisville Loop of the Parklands, which is a gorgeous stretch of paved trails that winds along Floyd’s Fork creek with parks, woods and pastoral farms that fill the landscape. Louisville has some amazing parks and if we didn’t have time for a Parklands bike ride, we’d definitely walk the scenic loop of Cherokee Park, which is gorgeous just about any time of the year.

For the afternoon, we’d spend some time shopping, starting with the newly opened Crestwood Mercantile, a boutique-style retail-space that showcases local art, gifts and and home decor. Continuing with the shopping theme, we would also check out Work the Metal, in the historic Butchertown Market. They have so many fun items here from home decor, accessories, clothing and everything in between! For lunch, we’d head over to the Cheddar Box Cafe to try any of their amazing sandwiches or salads. This spot is popular so call ahead if you can!

In the evening, we’d definitely check out the vibrant NuLu neighborhood, located just east of downtown, which is filled with historic buildings turned into restaurants, art galleries, and eclectic shops. We could definitely spend a few hours just shopping at all of the art galleries and boutique shops (Red Tree is my favorite!) While we are in NuLu, we would tour the Angel’s Envy distillery, a small batch bourbon distiller, and end with a bourbon tasting! We would definitely get dinner at any of the amazing restaurants in NuLu…Mayan Cafe is a favorite of mine (Latin American Food) or if we were in the mood for something casual, Feast Barbecue or Emmy Squared Pizza are always so good too and then we’d wrap up the evening with a drink at Garage Bar, which has some fantastic outdoor seating and a location right in the heart of NuLu.

The best part about visiting Louisville is that there is definitely something for everyone! Whether you are touring a distillery, visiting one of the downtown museums or checking out any of the fantastic neighborhoods, there is no shortage of cuisine, activities and people!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has been amazing throughout the entire process of starting and growing this business! Not only has he always encouraged me to pursue this dream, but he helps me troubleshoot all the tech I’ve had to figure out (hello spreadsheets!), helps me break down boxes and unload products from the ridiculous amounts of organizing inventory I order weekly for your jobs, lets me talk through ideas, dilemmas and solutions (and listens!) and is always there to support me on the good and bad days. We have 3 young kids and he is such an amazing dad to them and he equally helps with all the parenting and household tasks when I’m super busy. Because of his support, I feel like I have the ability to be both a mom and a business owner.
