Meet Alex Hayden | Music Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Hayden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to be remembered for giving generously, dreaming big, and loving deeply. I hope to be seen as someone who cared for the hurting, using music to minister compassion & encouragement. I aspire to live a life marked by perseverance, authenticity, generosity, and excellence.
I want my life to have been filled with incredible stories of faith that encouraged others to seek a deeper relationship with God and the truth I found in Christ.
The driving force behind my persistence has always been the unwavering belief that there is a God who loves me and has a unique plan for my life and yours too!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I make a song, I often feel weightless, limitless, and full of hope. It’s the best feeling. Every song I release is one that either gave me chills, made me cry, or brought clarity.
Art is like a water well; people can only feel as deep as the artist felt. Many artists dig deep creatively because they’re trying to get to the bottom of something in their life and find refreshment. My hope is that my music touches others as deeply as it touched me and refreshes them.
How did I get to where I am professionally? I remember my Dad saying, “Son, you might not be where you want to be yet, but don’t forget you’ve been places a lot of people haven’t.” I think it’s so easy to focus on how far away our dreams are and forget how far we’ve come. The best way I know how to overcome challenges is to embrace failure. I used to say, “If you want to be big-time, you have to be willing to look small-time.” It takes humility to try because it creates a potential for you to lose or look weak. But I’ve found humility is not obtained by remaining weak, but by not being afraid to reveal weakness in order to become greater. That’s what I think makes someone become a true winner.
Ultimately I want the world to know that God loves you and has a plan for your life. I believe one of the reasons I’m here is to turn my hurts, letdowns, wins, loves, hopes, and life experiences into music that blesses and encourages others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just shared a post on my Instagram about “How to Crush Your Nashville Vacation.” DM me @alexanddermusic if you enjoyed it!
If you’re heading downtown, start with coffee at Elixr, then shop around the Fifth + Broadway outdoor mall. I’d recommend hitting the Broadway rooftop bars during the day and walking the pedestrian bridge. For lunch, girls love Hampton Social, and guys enjoy Assembly Food Hall. For dinner, head to Sixty Vines, but make a reservation in advance! Afterward, grab a drink at the top of Twelve Thirty Club. End the night playing games at Pins Mechanical!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
How much can write? There’s so many.
Growing Up:
A big shoutout to my parents for giving me the opportunity to pursue music at 11 years old.
And to my big brother and sister for always encouraging my dreams, especially when I felt like giving up.
And lastly my grandparents & aunts for supporting & believing in me.
College:
Belmont University, Zoro the drummer, Big Kenny, and Chebacca taught me how to produce music.
Post-College:
I’m grateful to Alvin Risk, Kody Ternes, Legacy Nashville Church, and every friend that’s been there (you know who you are).
