Meet Abigail Mae | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Mae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abigail, what matters most to you?
One principle that has always mattered most to me is kindness. It seems simple to be kind, and it is, but as humans, it is definitely easier to let emotion and anger get in the way sometimes. I think always striving to be the kindest person you can be is one of the most important things we can do as humans. Kindness can go so far and everyone deserves it in their lives. I believe that kindness can also be the biggest motivator to others as well. I feel that as long as we are all kinder to each other, so much of our worlds can change.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started releasing music at the beginning of 2024, but it has definitely been a long time coming. It was during Covid-19 when I started to seriously write music, begin to post covers on social media, and learn to play instruments such as the guitar and piano. I never thought it could ever be more than a hobby, but when my now-manager, Michael Morrison, discovered me on TikTok during my freshman year of college, I gained the confidence in knowing that I could seriously pursue a career in music. Ever since December of 2023, I put the pedal to the floorboard. I consistently take trips from home (Atlanta) to Nashville in order to write, record, and produce tracks, which has been the best experience. I have put out 3 Country-Pop Singles since April of this year, with another on the way. This year has been all about finding my sound, and I have loved exploring and pushing the boundaries of country music. I think that what makes my songs so special, is that I put no boundaries on what I make. I allow myself to really say what I feel, and I want my music to convey that, whether that be to intertwine a pure pop-synth with my country twang, or go full punk-country when I need some revenge on an ex boyfriend. I just want to have fun and love what I make, and I hope that people can gain that insight when they listen to my music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a BIG foodie, so I would have to take them to a few of my favorite spots that I have discovered since becoming a frequent visitor! My top two favorites right now are the RedHeaded Stranger in East Nashville, and Amerigo! As far as going out, I’d have to take them to Aldean’s on Broadway. I go at least once every time I’m in town! If I were to plan a chill day, I always love to go for walks around the Gulch, where I usually always end up shopping anyways! I also love to get boots everytime I am in town, so I always end up going to Ariat or Tecovas in Fifth & Broadway!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I absolutely need to thank my family for their full support in chasing my dream of becoming a country singer. They have not only encouraged me to take that leap of faith in pursuing my career, but have also made countless sacrifices in order for me to take every opportunity offered to me.
Next, I would love to thank my management team at Groundwork Management, for putting their faith in me and taking a bit of a chance on a random girl they found on TikTok. Without their guidance and support, I would not be where I am today!
