Meet Aaron Chesling | Record Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Chesling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent, I’m navigating the journey of raising my two young boys, and honestly, it’s a continuous learning experience. One thing I’m trying to prioritize is creating a loving and supportive environment for them, but I’ll admit, it’s a work in progress. Communication and active listening are areas I’m consciously working on to better understand their evolving needs and concerns.
Instilling values like empathy, kindness, and resilience is something I believe in, but there are moments when I question if I’m doing it right. Leading by example is challenging, and I’m learning as I go, hoping that my actions align with the behavior I want to see in them. Encouraging a love for learning is important to me, but sometimes I struggle to find the balance.
Quality time is another aspect I’m figuring out how to prioritize amidst the chaos of daily life. Striking the right balance between discipline and compassion is an ongoing challenge. In the end, I’m just trying to be a source of love and support, hoping that it shapes a positive path for my kids, even if I don’t have all the answers.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hello, I’m Aaron Chesling, and I appreciate the opportunity to share my artistic journey. My story is a blend of passion, perseverance, and unexpected turns. Growing up in rural Iowa, I discovered my love for music and eventually pursued it as a career after obtaining degrees in guitar and business.
The path to my current role as a producer and songwriter in Nashville wasn’t easy. I played in bands, toured the country, and faced the challenges of the music industry. The transition from labor jobs to the red carpets was a pivotal moment, offering insights into Nashville’s culture and steering me towards my goal of becoming a record producer.
Navigating this competitive and sometimes self-centered industry has been a learning experience. Challenges, from credits being excluded to the legal complexities, tested my resilience. Yet, the love for the chase, the wins, and the unique stories kept me going.
As a producer, my focus is primarily on country music, but I’ve explored rock and lo-fi as well. Recently, I launched my indie label, Asphalt Music Group, a passion project that excites me about the future.

Luck, to me, is intertwined with prayer and hard work. I believe there’s a plan for everyone, and my journey reflects the importance of perseverance, adaptation, and a genuine passion for the art. I want the world to know that my story is one of continuous growth and dedication, fueled by the love for creating meaningful music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In no particular order I would want to for sure hit a few secret cigar lounges that I like to attend. Also, I am a big fan of Princes Hot Chicken and Peg Leg Porker for dining. But for off the beaten path fun, I really like hitting up the woods, maybe some small intimate writers rounds but most certainly would want to take them to scenic spots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I do have some heres no question, top of my head my father, David Chesling (Retired welder of almost 40 years, photographer). He is has been my hero since day one, he has made me the man I am today. Mark Tremonti is a guitar hero of mine, influenced a lot of my playing and to get outside of my comfort zone. People like Brett Favre (NFL) or Dan Gable (NCAA Collegiate Famed Wrestler and Coach), taught me the value of resiliency and to be tough when times are tough. I’ve recently have started adding more reading to my regimen, I have found a bit of fondness to author and tv personalities Dan Abrams (On Patrol Live) , Bear Grylls (Man Vs Wild) as well Jeremy Wade (River Monsters) I’ve learned a lot about patience, empathy and frankly a lot of historical knowledge through many of their books and programming. Diving into the Bible has also been a beacon of hope for me, it truly is a place to turn to for almost any chapter of life. Locally here in Nashville, there are endless shoutouts I could give to my fellow writers, producers, hit makers and the folks who have taken me under their wing.
