We had the good fortune of connecting with Rae Radick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rae, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve been performing in some way or another since I was three years old—eighteen of those years in a professional setting. I always say that music chose me because it feels like it’s been part of my identity for as long as I can remember. It started with dance lessons when I was little, which taught me discipline and how to tell stories through movement. Next I picked up singing, then learned guitar, and eventually writing my own songs, which gave me a way to process life and connect with people on a deeper level. Acting and musical theater followed, which pushed me to explore characters and emotions in new ways and really shaped me into the performer I am today. What keeps me going down this path is the way music continues to fulfill me—not just as a career, but as a calling. It has always been my safe place, my outlet, and my greatest joy. Being able to wake up every day and call myself a full-time artist is something I don’t take lightly. It’s not always easy, but it’s the most rewarding thing I could ever imagine doing. I truly love what I do, and I feel honored every day I get to share it with others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been through so many life experiences—both beautiful and challenging—that have shaped my lyrics and my perspective as an artist, and I’m grateful for every one of them. My goal with music is simple: I want to move people. Whether that means giving them a reason to let loose and have fun, empowering them to feel strong and confident, or comforting them during lonely or isolating times, I want my songs to be a safe space. In today’s world, social media plays such a huge role in how people see themselves, and while it can connect us, it can also create unrealistic expectations and pressure. Through my art, I try to advocate for healthy boundaries, balance, and the reminder that who you are is always enough.

Musically, I’ve always drawn inspiration from icons like Shania Twain and Stevie Nicks—women who weren’t afraid to be bold, authentic, and trailblazing in their own ways. Their influence shows up in my sound, my stage presence, and in the way I approach storytelling through song.

I spent nearly a decade in New York City pursuing music, acting, and modeling. While I loved my time there, I eventually realized that NYC didn’t have much of a singer/songwriter community, and I craved that sense of collaboration. After COVID, I felt a pull to Nashville—a place where songwriting is the heartbeat of the city—and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Nashville has not just sharpened my writing, but has helped me build a strong creative community in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

Of course, the journey hasn’t been easy. There were plenty of moments of doubt, long nights, and times when I wondered if I was capable of handling all the opportunities that came my way. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to say yes—even when it feels uncomfortable—and trust that I’ll figure it out as I go. That mindset has opened so many doors for me. In the process, I’ve also learned that surrender leads to growth, and growth leads to fulfillment. It’s not always about having everything perfectly planned; sometimes it’s about showing up with courage and letting life surprise you.

As an artist, I don’t think I’m reinventing the wheel—there are countless people out there who want to bring joy and empowerment to audiences. What I believe sets me apart is my storytelling, the energy I bring to the stage, and the genuine love I have for others. At the end of the day, we’re all looking for the same things—connection, happiness, and acceptance—and I like to think that through my songs and performances, I’m helping people find a little more of that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I’m on the road performing so much, when I’m back in Nashville I tend to recharge by staying in and enjoying my downtime. My couch and some quiet time are usually exactly what I need to reset! That said, there are definitely a few spots that I absolutely love and would share with a visiting friend.

First, I’d suggest Percy Priest Lake—it’s such a beautiful escape right outside the city where you can really breathe and take in nature. Motown Mondays at The 5 Spot are always a blast. I really like Velvet Taco—their flavors are creative and fun.

I always laugh and tell people I wish I were a better ‘tour guide,’ but the truth is my career keeps me moving so much that when I’m home, my priority is rest and balance. Nashville is overflowing with amazing restaurants, live music venues, and things to do, but for me, the perfect week with a best friend would be a mix of a little adventure and a lot of relaxation. Maybe we’d do a couple of my favorite local outings, grab great food, enjoy some live music, and then just hang out at my place, catching up and enjoying the kind of quality time that’s hard to find when life gets so busy.
For me, that balance is everything—being able to pour into my career on the road, but also creating space to restore my energy when I’m home. That way, when I do invite someone into my world here, they get the real me—grounded, rested, and ready to enjoy those moments together.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and influences who have helped me get to this point, and it’s hard to narrow it down because I truly believe no artist succeeds alone. If I had to choose one, though, it would be my family—specifically my nana. From the time I was a little girl, she always encouraged me to express myself, whether that meant dancing in the living room, singing whatever new song I’d written, or playing silly games pretending we were famous. She gave me that early sense of confidence and joy in performing, which planted the seed for everything I’ve done since. Without her unconditional love, support, and recognition, I honestly don’t know if I would have had the courage to pursue the arts as fiercely as I did. My family not only recognized my love for music and creativity but nurtured it every step of the way—with lessons, encouragement, and a lot of love. I owe so much to them.

I’m also surrounded with incredible friends. Plus, my team – John Salaway, Raquel Figlo, and Krista Dykes – all help make this wild dream possible. They all keep me going—especially during the tough times. Having a circle of supporters who believe in you, push you, and stand beside you is essential. I’m beyond grateful for mine.
