Meet Nicole Witt

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Witt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is what I thrive on. It has taken a lead roll most of my career in Nashville. For better or worse it has gotten me through doors and windows and even raised some ceilings. Some of the highest highs and lowest lows, experiences that I could’ve never imagined and life lessons that I would’ve never learned, all came as a result of taking risks.
I have been a part of the music business in Nashville for most of my career. It has lead me to 3 publishing deals, songs and singles recorded by other artists, a record deal as a solo artist and a band, and my most recent crown jewel, the Six One Five Collective. Starting a business from nothing and growing it into something is the most amazing experience! Doing it with people you love and respect, is magic.
Earlier in my career I didn’t think much about failing or actually getting hurt as a result of taking risks. After going through a few major hardships my risk taking is a bit more calculated. I pray a lot for sure. I haven’t ever lost the fire though for counting to 3 and jumping off the cliff.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been writing songs since I was 16. I don’t really even know why I wrote the first song, I just did. That was a few years ago now ha and I haven’t ever stopped chasing the next song. The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) brought me to town and I never left. Songwriting has driven my desire as well to become a solo artist and continues to be the driving force behind the band Six One Five Collective. Although social media and brand deals are important aspects artist careers, there is no artist if there is no song.
I have written for EMI Music Publishing, Curb Records, Capitol CMG and Wittsong Entertainment. I have been signed as an artist to Curb Records and as a member of a band to Dreamlined Entertainment.
All of that has lead me and (us) to the Six One Five Collective, the entity that I am most proud and excited about.
This business is not easy and certainly not for the faint of heart. Having a thick skin is the only way to survive. The only way I’ve gotten to the few YES’s I had is to surf an ocean of NO’s. I have only overcome challenges through prayer, friends, and just putting my head down and working my butt off. I’ve learned many lessons along the way but the few stand outs are stay true to yourself, work hard & believe even when the world doesn’t see it. I have deep passion and love for people and what I do. That is my brand and this is my story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love living in the 615. I even named a band after this city ha. With a thriving music scene, delicious restaurants, beautiful parks and sporting events, there is something for everyone here. I always recommend the Bluebird Cafe, Listening Room, Ryman Auditorium or the Opry as music venues to check out.
A trip down to Broadway is a must as well. The honkytonks and general atmosphere of downtown is a do not miss for out-of- towners. If they like parks and hiking I recommend, Radnor Lake or Warner Parks. I love this city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I love this section because there is no way I would have gotten to this point without the love, support and mentorship of friends, family and God.
Shoutout to a few of my friends and peers Christa Wells, Sarah DarlingCheley Tackett, Tiffany Goss, Lisa Torres, Libby Oellerich, Fain Spray, Aaron Goodvin, Michael Logen, Jeremy Spray, Cheyenne Medders, Skip Black, Shelly Fairchild, Megan Conner, Stacey Willbur, Chad Cates, Matt McClure, Gabe Kline & Gideon Kline.
Shoutout to my family that has been there from the beginning cheering me on.
Most importantly I’m grateful to God for this beautiful life! He deserves all of the credit for my story.
