Meet Hannah Ellis | Owner & Licensed Aesthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The Power of Genuine Care and Custom Solutions
In an industry where competition is fierce and the demand for skincare products and services is ever-growing, it can be easy to lose sight of the core values that truly create fulfilling work and lasting success. I have found the key to thriving in the skincare business is not simply about how many clients my team can acquire, but how deeply we care about each individual client and their unique skin journey. By focusing on a personalized approach to skincare, understanding the broader context of a client’s life, and prioritizing long-term relationships, Hannah Ellis Skincare (HES) has fostered a loyal following and sustainable success. At the heart of my approach lies a commitment to true holistic care. Through our expertise and compassion, we are able to educate and empower our clients to achieve the healthiest skin of their lives.
A Custom Approach: Tailoring Solutions to Every Skin
One of the central reasons behind the success of Hannah Ellis Skincare is our commitment to providing customized skincare solutions. We understand that every person’s skin is different, and their needs can shift over time due to factors such as stress, environment, or hormonal changes. We don’t just sell a product or service—we take the time to get to know each client’s unique skin profile, challenges, and goals. By offering tailored treatments and recommendations that are personalized to each individual’s needs, we ensure that every client receives exactly what works for them, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Rather than focusing on selling as many products as possible, my priority is finding the right products for each person. Whether it’s addressing specific skin concerns like acne, dryness, or hyperpigmentation, or providing guidance for skin maintenance over time, this custom approach fosters trust and creates meaningful results.
This, of course means that my team and I are constantly testing products and trying to fill in the gaps for what our clients need. Each of the aestheticians at HES have differing needs for their skin and that requires us to use and understand different skincare routines, and were actually pushed to enter the field of skincare because of the struggles we had with our own skin. It might be a bit taboo to admit, but even licensed aestheticians can experience breakouts and issues with our skin as the seasons change, we get older, or our lifestyles change. At the end of the day, skin happens. It is so important to us that we strive for the best, for ourselves and our clients, so we seek continued education, test new and updated formulas, adapt our service protocols, and build our network of other community resources important to our clients and the work we do.
Caring About What’s Going on in Their World
At Hannah Ellis Skincare, I know that skincare goes beyond just the surface of the skin. I understand that what’s going on in a client’s life can significantly impact their skin health. Factors like stress, lack of sleep, lifestyle choices and even gut or hormone imbalances can all have visible effects on the skin. By fostering open and genuine communication with my clients, I ensure I’m aware of the full picture—helping me to recommend what is going to get our clients the best results and provide support so they can achieve healthy skin.
Caring about what’s going on in their world, and not just their skin, makes my clients feel heard and valued. This level of attention to detail builds strong emotional connections that go beyond a simple transactional relationship. My clients feel that they are being treated as individuals, not just another customer. In a world that often prioritizes short-term gains, one of the key reasons behind the success of my business is my focus on building long-term relationships with clients. By checking in regularly, offering advice as clients’ skincare needs evolve, and being available for guidance whenever it’s needed, I’ve cultivated an environment of trust and loyalty.
My commitment to these relationships also means that I’m always open to evolving alongside my clients. I encourage feedback, make adjustments when necessary, and remain flexible in my approach. It is so important to me that clients feel supported throughout their skincare journeys, and know they have a trusted ally in their corner who genuinely cares about their success and well-being.
Admitting When Something is Outside Our Scope
What sets my skincare businesses apart from the rest is our willingness to admit when something is outside our expertise or scope. At Hannah Ellis Skincare, we’ve built a reputation for honesty and integrity. If a client presents an issue that falls outside of our expertise—whether it’s a medical condition or something that requires a different form of professional treatment—we are not afraid to refer them to other specialists. While we keep a certain level of knowledge and are happy to hold space, it is not our job as aestheticians to act as a client’s nutritionist, doctor, therapist, hormone specialist etc. Hannah Ellis Skincare’s unwavering commitment to holistic care doesn’t just treat the skin—it treats the person as a whole. Skin health is intimately connected with overall well-being, and when clients are treated holistically, they experience better, longer-lasting results.
It would be easy to say a client isn’t achieving their skincare goals because of their own issues with stress or their health. Trends emerge in this industry, such as supplements, that deeply concern me. I’m worried this is a way of keeping clients “in house” but I have found that true trust and loyalty comes from knowing when to admit we don’t know what we don’t know. Allowing clients to get the care they need from someone who specializes in their field only helps our clients get the results they need. This is why the aestheticians at Hannah Ellis Skincare and I have curated a list of Nashville safe spaces like therapists, doctors, nutritionists, body workers, personal trainers and more. This embodies true holistic care for the client, so that they can get the help they truly need and the results they want.
The Bottom Line: Genuine Care Equals Success
The success of Hannah Ellis Skincare is not merely the result of selling products, services or acquiring clients—it’s the result of an approach centered around genuine care and a personalized experience. By focusing on the individual, understanding the full scope of their needs, and providing honest, transparent services, we’ve cultivated a loyal client base. It’s not just about transactions—it’s about building relationships, offering solutions, and ensuring every client feels truly cared for.
Our holistic approach to skincare ensures that our clients not only see results but actually feel better, leading to higher retention and better sales over time. In an industry where so many brands focus on chasing trends, growth that may not align with their values, and numbers, I’ve chosen to focus on what matters most: the health and well-being of our community. The result is a thriving business built on trust, genuine care, healthy skin and long-term success.
