Meet Dr. Bee | Author & Divorce Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Bee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr., what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I contribute grit and grind to any success I’ve experienced in life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My decision to become a Divorce Coach came after going through a divorce. To say it was an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement. I wanted to provide an experience to others that would support individuals at any level of the process-considering divorce, ready to file, already filed, or post-divorce. There was so much that I experienced and had no clue about how to navigate and it all felt overwhelming. What sets my coaching services apart from others is the ability to support and coach at any phase of the process as well as a specialization in co-parenting.
I feel like I’m still “on my way”, so it’s funny to answer how I got to where I am professionally. I’ve authored books on co-parenting as well as divorce and those have helped create a platform I hope to continually grow. Spreading the word about topics that are considered taboo continues to present challenges, but I’m motivated to remove the negativity associated with divorce and co-parenting.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a proud southern belle so I would start in my city, Memphis, TN. We would eat barbecue and soul food, visit the Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, the Peabody hotel to see the famous ducks, walk along the Mississippi river downtown, attend a Grizzlies game and walk Beale street while enjoying live music.
Once we spent three days in Memphis, we’d head up Highway 40 to Nashville. After eating some Nashville Hot chicken, we’d root for Titans, visit the Capitol, purchase cowboy boots and then line dance at a bar on Broad Street. We’d have a tasting at the historic Jack Daniel’s distillery and end the trip with a show at the Grand Ole Opry.
Between all the tourists attractions, we’d people watch every opportunity. If you’ve never been to the South, it’s a very interesting place-the accents and dialect, fashion, and hospitality is one of a kind!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a network of people who have supported me throughout the many phases of life, not only my family, but friends who have always been the biggest supporters of me. If I had an idea that seemed too impossible, they would tell me it’s a great idea and that I could do it!
