Meet The Camkuy Group | Youth and Community Development – Non-Profit Organization

We had the good fortune of connecting with The Camkuy Group and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The CamKuy Group, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The key to our success is remembering that all we do is for the kids. Those three words, “for the kids,” are often said but not meant. At The CamKuy Group, that phrase reflects the work we do. Through school-based partnerships where we engage with over 2,000 students across Memphis to our Annual Holiday Magic Toy Drive that benefits kids at Youth Villages, this work is truly for the kids. This mindset helps us remain focused on our strategic planning, resource allocation, and budgeting/fundraising efforts.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our mission is to put unity in our community through boundary-breaking, diversity-building initiatives. Our vision is for everyone, everywhere to experience equitable access. Our core value is that Initiative fuels Initiative, reflective of our mission to be a catalyst for change through the work we do for the people of our community.
What sets our non-profit organization apart from others is that we are 100% owned and operated by young adults and teens, that are active in high school and college. Additionally, our crew members are products of the communities we give back to.
Personally, our President/CEO Cameron Kuykindall believes, “We wait until we are older to pour into younger. Why can’t young pour into young? Iron sharpens iron, right?” Our focus is to serve all members of our community, especially children and youth, which our CEO also considers our “most precious population.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Welcome to MEMPHIS MANE, with some of THE BEST food and attractions you can get in Tennessee, the South, and the country.
For food, consider visiting Slim & Husky’s, Mahogany, Suga Shack, The Four Way Grill, and Eggxactly Breakfast & Deli. (just to name a few)
For attractions, consider visiting the newly renovated Tom Lee Park, Bass Pro Pyramid, Beale Street, the newly opened Top Golf, Overton Park, Overton Square, or Shelby Farms.
When you’re in Memphis, you MUST visit a Grizzlies game at FedEx Forum, the Civil Rights Museum, the Stax Museum, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, and the Museum of Science and History (MoSH). For the little ones, Incredible Pizza, Main Event, Dave & Busters, and the Children’s Museum of Memphis are great places to take them.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our shoutout is to our stakeholders, including our promoters, donors, and volunteers. Being a newly-founded non-profit organization, we must be meticulous in our operation. We can not be more grateful for the support we receive with our initiatives, events, and programs.
