Meet Dujuan Thomas | Paducah City Commission Candidate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dujuan Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dujuan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has undeniably been my faith in God. Throughout my journey, I have always been guided by His divine hand. It’s not uncommon for people to ask me how I manage to navigate the diverse and demanding arenas of politics, acting, and television. My honest answer is always the same: it’s all because of God.

From a young age, I felt a calling to serve and inspire others. My faith has been the cornerstone of my aspirations, providing me with the strength, wisdom, and resilience needed to pursue my dreams. It has opened doors that I never imagined possible, leading me to opportunities in politics where I can advocate for positive change, in acting where I can adventure to new areas, and in having my own TV show where I can reach and uplift many.

The support I’ve received from my community and supporters has been overwhelming, and I believe that this, too, is a testament to the power of faith and purpose. With God’s guidance, I aim to continue making a difference and inspiring others to pursue their own dreams, knowing that with faith, anything is possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My primary focus as a politician is to bridge the gaps in Paducah and serve as the leader that our citizens want and need. I am deeply committed to fostering unity, promoting inclusivity, and addressing the issues that matter most to our community.

What sets me apart from others is my dedication to public service and my genuine desire to make a positive impact. I have always believed that true leadership is about listening to the people, understanding their needs, and working tirelessly to meet those needs.

Getting to where I am today professionally has not been easy. There have been numerous challenges along the way, but I have always approached them with resilience and a deep sense of purpose. Overcoming obstacles required adaptability and a commitment to staying true to my values.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that true leadership is about service. It’s about putting the needs of others first and working tirelessly to make a positive impact. This is what I aim to do every day in my political career and beyond.

I want the world to know that my journey is a testament to the power of determination and community support. I am committed to using my platform to uplift others and create a better future for Paducah. My story is one of hope, resilience, and the belief that together, we can achieve great things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Paducah, Kentucky, for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the best of our vibrant city. We’d start with a visit to the new pickleball courts, where we’d enjoy some friendly competition and fun. For lunch, we’d head to Loopy Larry’s for a fantastic sandwich that never disappoints. Exploring downtown Paducah would be a must, including a walk along the riverfront to admire the stunning murals that capture our city’s rich history. We’d visit the National Quilt Museum to appreciate the incredible textile art and take a relaxing stroll through the beautiful Paducah Riverfront Park.

Evenings would be spent enjoying the local arts scene, such as catching a show at the Market House Theatre. For a bit of downtime, we’d enjoy a cup of coffee at the House of Ross, a spot perfect for relaxing and catching up. Throughout the week, I’d also make sure to introduce them to some of the warm and welcoming people that make our community special. From our unique shops and galleries to the friendly faces at the farmers’ market, Paducah offers a blend of charm and excitement that makes it a great place to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must give honor to God, and his son Jesus for being the foundation I stand on. Also my village of family members that have helped guide me throughout the years. My grandmother Mary Thomas, Grandfather Joe Thomas, Mom Angelina, Aunt Virginia Mcclure, and so many other relatives. I’m grateful for everyone that has played a roll in my life and upbringing.
