Meet Alexandra Mayes | CEO of Mindful Steps PLLC & Licensed Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Mayes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“If life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up, and if you get up, you can stand up.” – Les Brown
We all have our days when we just don’t feel like it. This quote is a reminder to keep going and allows space if life becomes difficult to manage. There is beauty and courage in showing yourself some grace and kindness. Life is a unique experience for all of us, therefore, we shouldn’t define ourselves by our circumstances or our failures.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mindful Steps PLLC is a telehealth organization that was created in 2021 to offer our clients an opportunity for easily accessible therapeutic services for change and growth. We are committed to supporting clients in dealing with everyday stressors and also achieving full potential in a non-judgmental and safe environment. In today’s world, mental health and counseling are not a luxury anymore but a need that has to be fulfilled to live a satisfying life. Our purpose is to assist our clients through this therapeutic path with empathy and respect. We are excited to host our second mental health conference during Minority Mental Health Month in July titled, “You Can’t See My Pain.” The intent of this conference is to highlight how mental health is often invisible and how detrimental this invisibility has on the Indvidual on numerous levels in their life. The goal of this conference is to provide psychoeducation, and to destigmatize mental health in our community. There were challenges getting to this point with Mindful Steps; sleepless nights, endless think tank meetings with my husband, and finding a healthy balance between work and life. I learned that leaning on my social support and delegating task help me, and Mindful Steps grow. What I want the world to know is that Mindful Steps was an idea at first. Just that….an idea. It wasn’t until I became clear with the vision, I had for myself and my company that Mindful Steps PLLC became a reality.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are plenty of things to do in Nashville, Tennessee. My favorite things is eating pizza at Slim and Huskys. Some other places I find interesting, and fun is the Soul of America Tours, and Frist Art Museum. On the weekends I enjoy running and walking at the park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my husband. He supported me throughout this journey and has stood by my side every step of the way. I would also like to address my family and their support, as I continue following my dreams. There is something amazing that occurs when you follow your dreams. It can fill your cup, especially when your goals align with your beliefs. I believe that mental health is essential to our well-being, and it is my mission to spread this awareness.
