We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Ayala and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivan, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue music seriously when I turned 25. I had gotten home one day after a rough day at work, saw my guitar sitting in the corner and started strumming. I remember how happy it made me and up until that point I was struggling to find out a career choice that I would be happy with. Obviously music is not easy but I remembered all the good times I’d had playing shows and how it made me feel after playing a great set. It made me wonder why I ever stopped playing. Life happens, you get distracted but I started booking shows and writing more music. Haven’t looked back since.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m excited at the fact that I’ve had some really great experiences (tours, song cuts, gigs in general) and met lifelong friends that are also working towards elevating their abilities as well. I’m currently working on a lot of new songs that I would say are some of my best work yet. Also, working on more Spanish country songs. I think there’s a great market and opportunity in that genre that I’d like to tap into.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to some of my favorite live music spots, we’d load up on some amazing bbq and Mexican food, and maybe catch a game (sounds, preds, Nash SC)!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give a shoutout to ALL of my musician friends. For helping me make my songs that much better and sharing the stage with me. I especially want to thank Musicians On Call for letting me volunteer and share my talents for an incredible cause. Making music isn’t just about being a successful musician but also about giving back to your community. I’m thankful that I’m able to play for patients in a serious time of need with the talents that my good Lord has blessed me with.
