Meet Rica Martin | Versatile Hairstylist/Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rica Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rica, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My buisness helps the world because it allows me to transform clients lives, 1 Haircut, 1 Blowout, 1 Flat iron at a time. The passion that I have for my career allows me to provide my guests with a confidence booster, image changer, creating glow from within. Adding a smile that lights up a room and bring tears of joy and happiness.
What should our readers know about your business?
My name is Rica Martin, I am 32 years of age. I was born and raise in Cleveland Ohio. Recently I have decided to take my talents to Las Vegas NV. I have been doing hair since the age of 8. Choosing my career path has been easy because I knew what I had a passion for since I was a little girl. What sets me apart from others, is because I have passion for my craft, I am only in competition with myself. I love challenging myself, seeing how I can make each and every interaction with my clients better. One of the proudest moments in my life, is that even when I decided to take a small break from doing hair, I never gave up. I always strive for greatness. I got to where I’m at in my career, by always putting God first, never getting, comfortable with my craft, my husband, kids and family support, investing in myself, by buying products and tools I needed, gathering more education on YouTube, books , Google, and taking group and 1 on 1 classes. My first 2 years were not easy, when I was building clientele, because you had to prove to the guests you knew what you were doing. I overcame the challenges by offering free services sometimes so that I can build a portfolio showcasing my work, I did hair anytime of the day/and or night. I worked 7 days a week, even on holidays, I offer variety of styles on every texture. This type of drive and hustle got me to where I am today! Some of the lessons that I learned on the way are too have set hours, and off days, set policies, know that all money is not good money, discontinue services that you don’t no longer want to offer, and treat all your clients like celebrities, because they are your walking billboard. I want the world to know that I love what I do,everyday I want to do at least 1 person head and change a life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to karaoke. We both love to sing and dance. I would also take her to a nightclub, even though I don’t drink or smoke, we both love to hear loud music and dance. Lo Lo’s Chicken and waffles is one of the best restaurants in the city, so we would grab something to eat there, also Black Tap. I love boxing so we would go to see a boxing fight, a concert, and go for walks to sight see. I love checking out the hairstores, I find peace in that alot.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and Foremost God gets 100 percent recognition for blessing me to have a gift to bless others with my hands! I would like to recognize my husband Skillzz, who is a Barber, my 6 children, who motivate me to keep going, mother, father, brothers and friends.
