Meet Derek McKeith | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Derek McKeith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Derek, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Everyone feels like quitting at some point in life, be it something or someone. I think the most important thing one can do is evaluate their reason for doing something in the first place.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m in the business of business. Currently, I’m running my coffee company, Bad Beans Coffee amongst other things. I think what sets me apart from others is my diverse background. I come from the entertainment industry, but have tried my hand in many unique fields of labor. I think that’s what has got me where I am today in business. It wasn’t easy, but then again there were smooth roads. I think what gave the process great ease, was that I enjoyed doing the things I was doing. One of the biggest lessons I learned was to never be afraid to try something different and uncomfortable. I want to leave a legacy of authenticity, and that’s what I think I’m bringing to the world today.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I might be one of the most boring host. I have friends that come into town that ask me what they should do, and I am clueless. I usually throw out random activities. Roller skating would probably definitely be on the menu. I think roller skating brings out some of the most interesting, and fun people. These are usually the people who can lead you into another local happenings around town.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give my parents a shout out, for always helping me keep things in proper perspective.
