We had the good fortune of connecting with Dess Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dess, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process in starting my own business was very clear. I come from poverty and living off the state. I don’t want that for my children I want my children to be able to say “My Mother owned her own business and that’s why we are here today.” I never want my children to struggle so I will work as hard as I can to make sure of that.
   

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I focus on Art that comes from within. The kind of Art that Traps you In Love with its essence. TrapLoveENT is focused on what can make an individual drop it all and create. It started with me and expanded nationally. As a young child I heard music and I stopped in my tracks, created a melody, did a two step etc. No music went unnoticed around me. So we focus on young children and young adults who want to put their efforts into something crafty and help them learn the fundamentals about the Music industry, the Dance Industry and or the behind the scenes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I’m from Bridgeport, CT and Downtown Bridgeport is like a small bite of NYC. We have a strip where there’s nothing but some of the best wings and great bartenders. Or we can hit (depending on weather) we have snow tubing and arcades. However my favorite place thus far has to be the Aquila’s Nest Vineyards in Sandy Hook CT. Definitely worth the drive the vineyard is beautiful and you can ALWAYS take advantage because for the winter they put their clients in heated igloos to enjoy their wine outside.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to TrapLoveENT and everyone who works so hard to make this happen. Within TrapLoveENT we have many other organizations that work with us and help us improve as a business. I’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to Malaysia Johnson my Choreographer and life long friend. She helped me start my business when I felt like I had nothing and pushed me to believe in my self.
