Meet Drop Dead Dangerous | Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Drop Dead Dangerous and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Drop Dead, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Kitty –
I have always known I want to sing. As far back as I can remember, it is all I have wanted to do! Then came the guitar and songwriting and I fell in love with all of it. It seems to do this full time you have to own your own business and it beats punching a time clock!
Melanie –
I had never planned on “starting a business”, I had always planned on playing drums/percussion. It’s not really something I learned in school.. I feel like Kitty and I have had the opportunity to learn and grow together based on our desire for this musical project.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art is a unique expression of Country, Americana & Southern Rock music. We would have to saw our instrumentation sets us apart. Beginning with the roots of the two piece and all the way up to our six piece band. We blend sounds of world percussion from Melanies drum set, stack multiple harmonies and we even pair a saxophone and fiddle! Something we are most proud of would definitely be our recording experiences! We have cut albums at The Spirit Ranch, Shrimpboat Sound and Fame Studios. On our last album we were honored to cut one of Mac McAnally’s tunes and have him on the song with us. Another milestone for us would have to be hosting our own festival, Drop Dead Beach Bash. We are in our sophomore year of this endeavor and so excited about it! Achieving the level of success we have is attributed to staying consistent and showing up. A labor of love is never easy, but it is worth it! Playing music full time and traveling all the while will most certainly teach you to be patient, persistent & to keep practicing. Like many musicians, we want to be heard. Audibly and emotionally. We want to tell everyone our stories from a stage.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many sides to Nashville! Of course most of it is around music. Whenever someone comes to visit we always encourage them to check out some of the many museums. There is the Johnny Cash museum, the Musicians Hall of Fame, The Country Music Hall of Fame, The National Museum of African American Music, etc. There are also some incredible live music venues and experiences in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area; Go to the Ryman Auditorium, The Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Fontanel Mansion, The Grand Ole Opry. All historic, beautiful venues and great places to see a show! Sometimes you can tour these venues too. We would also encourage people to take a tour of RCA Studios. Look at the records on the wall and hear stories about the work artists like Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson did right there in those studios! Then there is the food, local beer and the lake season! Nashville and Middle Tennessee have so much to offer to those visiting!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In addition to our families we are both very fortunate for the support of organizations like Pirates & Poets, the communal support of our fan-base, and venues we play!
