Meet Heather Victorino | Award Winning Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Victorino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
It is hard to choose just one quote, but one of my favorite quotes is by Dolly Parton. “I’ve never tried quitting and I’ll never quit trying.”
I love this quote because as a female country artist, the business has it’s challenges and during those tough times, I remind myself that everything I need to be successful in this business is already within me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a country singer/songwriter and recording artist in Nashville, living my dream. I’m blessed to be able to tour, play at the top venues, play at writer’s rounds, and of course, be able to write new songs that I’m able to share every week.
I’m extremely humbled, blessed, and honored to say that I am a 7 time Music Award Winning artist. My most recent award was for song of the year at the Grand Ole Opry with the JMA’s. I’ve also won Artist of the year, vocalist of the year, and several other categories.
I’m very blessed to have also won numerous awards and contests, for both singing and songwriting. It can be really hard as an independent artist but I’m proud of my accomplishments and how far I’ve come. Looking back now, it humbles me to know I’ve headlined 4 successful tours, released one EP, and 3 singles, and was featured on the cover of a global fashion and music magazine, all as an independent artist. I have a long road ahead of me but I’m blessed for the opportunities I’ve had.
I am also very passionate about giving back to the community. I worked closely with feeding Nashville in delivering meals to people and families in need. While still living in Texas, I also started a children’s choir at a local orphanage, as well as performing at nursing homes and hospitals. I feel like God gave me this gift for a reason and it’s my duty and purpose to help others through music.
I can honestly say I’ve been very blessed for the opportunities and doors God has opened for me and continues to open for me. I won’t lie to y’all, there have been some bumps in the road and lots of tears and hurdles on my music journey, but those hard times and struggles have taught me a lot about myself as an artist and as a woman in this industry. I’m thankful that my mom taught me at such a young age to be strong, fearless, resilient, and independent. She always said, “If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.” During tough times in my career I have leaned on friends, family, and Dolly Parton’s words of wisdom to encourage me and help me through. Like my girl Dolly says, “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” And that is exactly what I’ll continue doing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend Morgan has been out to visit me the past two years I’ve lived here. She is such a fun and free spirit and definitely brings out the fun side and adventurous side in me. We have some favorite hot spots we like to go to.
Food- bar taco, sixty vines
Drinks- bar taco for the margs, and sixty vines for wine on tap
Shopping- Opry mills or green hills
Music- whiskey jam, Broadway, scoreboard for Sunday funday
Dancing- nashville palace, wildhorse saloon
She enjoys being in the middle of it all so downtown is definitely what she loves. But if you’ve never been to Nashville before, I’d recommend going to the country music hall of fame, Johnny Cash’s museum, touring the Opry, going to bluebird cafe, and the listening room.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s difficult to just choose one person to give thanks to and to give credit to for my success and for the journey I am on. There’s so many people who have helped me along the way. But the most important person to thank, is God, for giving me this gift and using me as his vessel. I pray everyday that he guides me and continues to use me as his vessel so that I am able to connect with people and touch lives through music. I want to use these gifts he gave me to glorify him everytime I step out on that stage.
My mom is truly my biggest supporter. She believed in me before I even knew I had this gift. She says I have been singing since before I could even talk. She gave me the support, tools, and training I needed to be successful and then pushed me to spread my wings and fly. She taught me at a very young age to be independent, resilient, and fearless. I love her so much and will never be able to repay her for all the love and support she has given me over the years.
I also want to give credit and thanks to my vocal coaches and music teachers over the years for helping me develop my gifts and giving me the confidence I needed to pursue my music career.
John Rich’s bar, Redneck Riviera has also been so wonderful with me and they have really helped me make a name for myself here in Nashville. When I first moved here from Texas, they believed in me, and really took a chance on me. They gave me a weekly residency and from there, more doors and opportunities have opened for me, allowing me to make a name for myself in Nashville. They have become my family here and I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me. John Rich has been incredibly kind and I just feel blessed enough to have such a wonderful example to look up to and learn from. He is just as kind as he is talented and being one of the resident artists at his bar has been such a blessing.
And last but certainly not least, my fans! Because of my loyal fans, I’m able to do what I love every second of every single day. They not only believe in my music, but they believe in me. Seeing so many of them at my shows and sending me messages and mail, it just humbles me to my core and lights a fire inside of me that helps me continue to work hard and fight for this big dream of mine.
