Meet Krisiz Jay | Songwriter & Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krisiz Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krisiz, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
That’s a great question. And one I get often due to my accent and mannerisms. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up in Memphis was an essential part of my life, due to how things can go from alright to messed up quickly. Memphis impacted my mind state in ways I couldn’t imagine at first. It taught me how to actually hustle the right way, how to approach situations from every angle before making a decision or a mistake and how nobody is any different than you and as long as you know that you can achieve your goals. No goal is impossible and everything is within your grasp you just have to work harder and smarter to achieve it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I may not be the best writer, storyteller, entertainer etc. however, I will say that I will work harder than the next person to achieve my goals. I have such tenacity about making things happen sometimes it’s a little hard to get me to settle down so that plays a big part in how I got to where I am today. Just working until the task was complete. Was it easy? No. Most days I wanted to quit and go do something else. The only way I overcame was to look at how far I came versus how far I have to go. Because going forward is a lot easier than going backwards. What I want the world to know about my brand is that it fits all. It’s not something you couldn’t see yourself doing. My story is no different than yours.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would tell my best friend to check out like spots that aren’t so known but are being there like The Oasis Hookah lounge or maybe a Cigar bar. Of course Beale Street that’s a given for tourist.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s a group of individuals that deserve some credit to what I have done in recent years called Damage Media Group. They’ve been instrumental in helping me create this brand I’ve been building and working on and I couldn’t do it without them so thank you to them and I look forward to making this brand happen moving forward.
One book that has helped me out that I think people should know and or read is the subtle art of not giving a f***. That book literally will teach you about how you should just be you regardless of what you’re taught. Just live your life and not give a f***
