We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailee Barnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is something that is very scary yet very important thing in our lives as individuals. I personally have one situation where I took a huge risk and I would not be where I am at in my life today if I hadn’t taken that leap of faith. I was finishing college in May of 2020 and my plan was to pack up and move to Nashville shortly after that. In February of 2020, the global pandemic Covid-19 hit and I was absolutely terrified my plans wouldn’t pan out. With the help from my family, I was still able to sell everything I had and hop in my car and travel across the country from California to my new home in Tennessee. There were tons of risks that came along with this. First, I only knew one person prior to moving so starting over was very scary. Two, I didn’t know what the music industry would look like at all especially when everything was shut down. But I took the risk anyway and I am so so happy I did. I would not be where I am today if I let my fears take over.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is in the form of music. I am so proud of each of the songs I write. One song that was huge for me was a song I wrote about my hometown called Hilltop Town. It was not easy to get to where I am today and I am still on the road to get to where I am going but with patience and hard work I will succeed where I want to with my music. I want the world to listen to the songs. I take pride in what I put out and I am proud of what songs I have out right now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Thats funny you ask, my best friends were just here in early November. I love east Nashville and that whole area my favorite place to go in probably Urban Cowboy. They have the best pizza! Also, you have to check out Broadway of course. I prefer going during the day to a rooftop bar but it also is very lively at night with LOTS of live music!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Since I answered the question about taking risks, I want to dedicate this Shoutout series to my family. Without them I would have never made the move to Nashville and be where I am at today.
