We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Jakobsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I think as time goes on I’ve gained a high appreciation for the simplier things in life. My 20’s were fast paced; traveling non-stop and playing shows throughout the US and beyond. The last couple years we’ve still been playing shows but I’ve found a balance in my life with hobbies, interests and passions outside of music as well. I have a family that I love and fur babies that mean the world to me. These are the things that truly bring happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe that music is a form of therapy. I write songs to not only heal myself but inspire and uplift those around me. Music has always been a huge part of my life ever since I was a little kid and that passion stayed with me from bands in school to touring after high school and really just never looking back. I’ve put out alot of songs over the years and I’m proud of all the phases and the awkward stages that got me to where I am. My latest single “Get Back” is a huge reflection on the influence music had on me as a child. I encourage yall to go check out the music video we put out for it over on Youtube. Bringing the song to life visually was such an awesome moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ooo around Nashville? I am a huge physical media collector so If they were up for it I would take them out to McKays. The are a MASSIVE buy sell trade here in town and one of a few places you may spot me in a public setting haha.

Of course we would have to eat so I would show them around to some of my favorite Vegan eateries in the Nashville vicinity. Sunflower, Bee Hive and Wild Cow are a few of my favorites.

Also I would love to drive them out to The Gentle Barn in Christiana, TN. They are doing incredible things for the animals there. Rescuing so many beautiful souls and providing them with a loving environment and happiness just like we would our own dogs and cats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Musically I have massively been inspired by Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. I hold them in the highest regard when it comes to songwriting and artistry. They both have, and continue to be, a huge influence on my own musical journey.
