We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Burg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, is there something you believe many others might not?
I often find myself disagreeing with is the notion that “the customer is always right.” This age-old adage, while rooted in good intentions, can sometimes be misleading, especially in the world of branding and design.

In my experience, a successful brand strategy is not just about acquiescing to every client whim or following trends blindly. It’s about striking a delicate balance between what the client thinks they want and what their business truly needs to stand out in a crowded market. Often, clients come to us with preconceived ideas influenced by current trends or competitors. Our job is to dig deeper, to uncover the unique essence of their brand that resonates with their target audience.

I believe in a collaborative approach where we honor our clients’ insights but also guide them with our expertise. It’s about being honest and bold enough to challenge ideas when necessary, to create a brand identity that’s not just a mirror of the client’s initial thoughts but an evolved version that aligns with their core values and business goals. This approach has consistently led to more distinctive, authentic, and successful brand strategies.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Liberty Type is more than just a brand strategy and design agency; it’s a manifestation of a vision to empower businesses with distinctive and strategic branding. What sets us apart is our dedication to crafting brand stories that are not only visually stunning but deeply resonant and strategically sound. We specialize in bringing a level of personalization and strategic depth to each project that goes beyond the surface aesthetics.

I’m incredibly proud of the way Liberty Type has evolved. Our commitment to understanding the core essence of each business we work with and translating that into compelling brand narratives is something that really sets us apart. We’re not just creating logos or websites; we’re crafting a brand’s soul and voice.

Getting to where we are today was by no means a walk in the park. The journey was filled with challenges, from the initial stages of establishing a client base to continuously adapting to the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing and design. The biggest challenge was ensuring that our work always stayed relevant and impactful. To overcome these obstacles, we focused on continuous learning and adapting, staying ahead of trends while also staying true to our core principles.

The lessons learned along the way are numerous, but a few key ones stand out:

Adaptability is Key: In a fast-paced industry, being able to pivot and embrace new technologies and trends is crucial.

Authenticity Matters: Clients resonate with authenticity. Staying true to our values and approach has been vital in building trust and long-term relationships.

Collaboration Drives Success: The synergy between our team and our clients is where the magic happens. It’s not just about delivering a service; it’s about co-creating success stories.

As for what I want the world to know about Liberty Type: it’s a brand built on the belief that great branding is a blend of art and strategy. Our story is about turning challenges into opportunities for growth, both for our clients and ourselves. It’s about a commitment to not just meeting expectations, but exceeding them, and doing so with creativity, passion, and strategic insight. We’re here not just to create brands, but to tell stories, to evoke emotions, and to build legacies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Spending a weekend in the charming town of Maryville, nestled near the Smoky Mountains, is an experience close to my heart. I adore the small-town vibes, where local businesses like Bella for dinner, Southern Grace for a heartwarming coffee, and Diamond Jack’s for a delightful breakfast, form the essence of the community. There’s something special about the personal touch and unique character each local spot offers, blending seamlessly with the scenic beauty of the Smokies. It’s this combination of quaint town life and natural splendor that makes a weekend here truly unforgettable.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it comes to recognizing the forces behind my success, the spotlight undoubtedly shines on my incredible team at Liberty Type. Their contribution to our journey is immeasurable, and it’s an honor to dedicate this shoutout to them.

Every member of the Liberty Type team brings a unique blend of creativity, expertise, and passion to the table. They are not just employees; they are the architects of our brand’s success. Their commitment to excellence and their willingness to push boundaries have been instrumental in defining who we are as an agency.

They approach each project with a fresh perspective, continuously challenging the status quo and driving innovation. This collective effort has not only enriched our client’s experiences but has also fostered a dynamic and inspiring work environment.

Their diversity in skills and thoughts is our greatest strength. Whether it’s design, strategy, copywriting, or client relations, each member contributes something unique, creating a harmonious and effective synergy. This team has taught me the true meaning of collaboration – that together, we are more than just the sum of our parts.
