We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, what principle do you value most?
The most valuable principal I have and an artist is to always be myself. Be true to your feelings, your art and your soul. Try to express yourself the best you can as an individual. No two people are the same, so the best you can do is be your real honest self and try to distinguish yourself as different in your own unique way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an Singer / songwriter. It’s that simple. I am not the best singer in the World, but I can hold my own to relay my craft. I am proud t be a Songwriter and Author as well. Long after I leave this earth my music and words will live forever. I am proud of the music I write whether it be serious or humorous. Each song is it’s own separate piece of work. Much like having a baby, no two babies are alike, but you love them all. In the beginning days of writing songs I am not afraid to say my songs were shit, but they were. Very simple and basic songs and style. Nothing special. I kept writing and learning new tricks and techniques to make each song a little better than the last one. Now years later and still writing, I try to make the next song the best yet. It’s a circle that never ends, always trying to write a song better than the last.

I am proud to say that my music has been played in many countries all over the World and I have performed in over seventeen different countries. Some may not appreciate my sense of sarcastic humor or completely understand my style of entertainment, but the ones that do have been incredibly faithful and come back to see me time after time. I am blessed to have so many wonderful fans and the opportunity to still be playing music and doing what I love. With the many expansions of the internet and its platforms. I look forward to the exposure of my music and name to more and more around the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Key West we are plethora of fun and sun. Key West is know for it’s vibrant live music scene. I have many friends and fellow musicians that perform on the Island and know how to give the audiences the best they can. Such famous venues and Irish Kevin’s, Sloppy Joe’s, Margarittaville, The Smokin’ Tuna, Durty Harry’s, The Green Parrot and Hog’s Breathe Saloon just to name a few. The historical significance of Key West is very impressive as well with the likes of Ernest Hemmingway, Tennessee Williams and many other artists, Not to mention the influences of Harry Truman and other Presidents.

For relaxation the crystal clear waters of the Florida Keys can not be beat. Whether its fishing, sailing or just fun on the water, you get no better than the Keys. The dining and seafood seafood here as well is unbelievable along with a perfect setting and picturesque sunsets.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I completely credit my time in Radio as a on air personality early in my career as helping me express myself and feel comfortable talking with the public and in front of audiences. The experience of being a part of concerts and large musical events were invaluable to me to be able to experience the way shows should be done. Professionally and planned out with the most thought. Listen to the experience of others who have been there before you. I also learned lessons of how things should NOT be done.
